Worked for me as well and I didn’t even need to dismantle it I could see the smudge on my 3D stylus as soon as I checked Cleaned it with a qtip and alcohol And now it works! 🎉

I have a leapstart 3D The pen works exactly the same The problem I had was with that little ribbon contact So you'd touch the pen to the page but the light didn't even turn on With the leapstart you can't replace the pen so I ended up replacing the ribbon contact with a 15mm button (required some soldering) Good to know the lens might be an issue in the future These things are such great toys but I just wish the pen was more robustly put together
