The IRS and the tax payer get a form 5498 for Roth contributions It is informational (technically) but there are potential penalties if tax payers do something incorrect Unlikely, but there is the potential So, the IRS DOES know if people make Roth contributions Rest of video was good! Thank you so much Dustin , Question : if your Roth IRA has 4 index funds , can you sell 3 of them and buy more of the 4th one I got bonds , international , S&P 500 , and total stock market index I am thinking to sell the first three and buy with the money more of the total stock market index ??? is there a penalty , or taxes apply ??? Comment from : @oz-wealth8629 |

How does the IRS keep track if you made enough income to contribute to a Roth? I realize this likely isn't an issue for most people, but say custodial Roth IRA's for kids, many may make less than $6,000USD, so how does the IRS make sure you don't put away more than their income? Comment from : @jnuechte |

So wondering if my 20 year old son who is my dependent as he is still a student can he get the savers credit if he files his own return We were not going to file a return as he made less than $12K in total but perhaps its worth filing with the savers credit as he contributed the max to his Roth IRA in 2020, He also did this in 2019 so perhaps we should file a return for 2019 if he would qualify for the savers credit Please advise, thanks Comment from : @robn5932 |
|
Thank God I was wondering about that Great information Comment from : @morganglenn418 |

File Taxes are you nuts! Comment from : @dalealmonrode4581 |

IRS allows you maximum 50 credit to Roth contribution of up to $2,000 ($4,000 for MFJ) Even if you meet the income qualification, you can't get 50 of full contribution of $6,000 Due to this cap, your maximum credit will be $1,000 ($2,000x5) and not $3,000 ($6,000x5) See Form 8880 Comment from : @kateflorida |
