What’s really crazy is how good Charles was after only being really good/ getting big enough to play his senior year!!! Now days kids are soooo good in middle school!!!! Just shows how crazy the level of competition is in professional sports now days No one ever goes to the pros or becomes a top level player in the NBA after just getting good their senior year Just truly crazy when you really think about it Even the worst NBA teams today would murder the best teams from the 70’s and 80s hands down in my opinion Everyone is just soooo good now days!!!! I'm not positive but I think NHL and MLB players can get drafted right out of high school but can still go to college and play their sport But NBA and NFL once you enter the draft your college playing days are over, even if you don't get drafted

I like Charles, but the entire college system is screwed up No! They should not get paid If I'm a 19 or 20 year college student studying to become a teacher or doctor or financial person and the guy I'm sharing a dorm with it getting paid F-that! I'm working a job serving fast food or mopping floors and you are getting paid to play sports and you might not even make it to the NBA Again, f-that!brNBA scouts would still come to the games regardless to recruit no matter what The system is flawed But if Charles and others get their way it will be more flawed against non-athletic students

I saw Charles in college My family had season tickets at a perennial top 20 program We always expected to win all of our home games Charles totally dominated the game and our big men were scared to mix it up with him because he was so physical He made a steal and took it end to end and just threw a huge dunk down We were in awe He was the best player I saw during my first 20 years until Tim Duncan came for a visit He talked to us after the game for a minute and signed some autographs for kids

Asking for too much, Chuck Most jocks do not have the chops for academic pursuits It is what it is And that giant sucking sound is the NBA, endorsements, and all the fame that entices kids having little interest in study The only way forward is ripping out competitive college hoops and form basketball clubs for the uber talented, as semi-pro farm teams, and keep real amateur athletic hoopsters for serious students that take required core classes

Charles is spot on He didn't say one VERY important thing 90 of the best college athletes would not pass the SAT/ACT entrance requirements at the schools they are in if they were just a student Cal Berkeley you need 4 years of English, 4 years of math and so on These athletes have none of that So to say that the NCAA has an obligation to graduate these college athletes when they could not pass basic Algebra by their senior year is a big problem Remember when they use to post football players major and introduce them each before they game? Yup That was standard before each game to introduce the starting lineup If they did that today they would list 90 as Communication majors or Sports Management

Schools know the scholastic ability level of many of the high school students they recruit for sports ability will make succeeding in classwork difficult They have a responsibility to support and facilitate the education of any student they accept, especially if they are making tons of money off them The fact that intense practice, travel, and game schedules make it even harder just increases the responsibility of the college to support the athletes in what they are ostensibly there for: education

My only issue is this: think about all of those college players in every NCAA game Weather its football, basketball, hockey, or soccer they were all in video games that made millions of dollars NONE of them were being paid to have their faces or NAMES in those games It's absolutely wrong Without the players the games wouldn't exist
