Wearing diapers helps because people are less judgmental and more accepting That’s what makes being a baby girl so much fun I think that gender in the human sense does isolate your expression and not allow you to experience the full spectrum of experiences Comment from : @johnbarkleybabygirl32 |

So I had my only child at 40! So naturally he was around a lot of adults For some reason he would not play with and just hated anything that was design for children! Meaning he did not like things that were colored bright red blue, blue etc He always gravitated to real furniture! Comment from : @toniweston4330 |

My oldest actually chose to a baby doll to play with when we went on a shopping trip to a thrift store I bought it for him and he was so sweet with it, even babywore it like I did him Both of my boys had a play kitchen as well They love to help out around the house and even cook, especially my oldest He's always been a cat lover and had stuffed cats that he would pretend are giving birth to kittens and got super protective of them He has said he wants to be a chef since he was a toddler and is 14 now and still says this He will be taking cooking classes and child development when he goes to high school as his electives He wants to be a dad some day and I think he will do amazingly at it I don't know if him being exposed to more "feminine" or nurture-encouraging toys helped or if it's just who he is but I'd like to think it didn't hurt him either They both very much still played with toys targeted for boys as well I think it's generally a good idea to let them play however they are naturally drawn to, no matter if they are gendered or not A lot of the time, they would chose to go outside and play with sticks lol I have overheard mothers tell their boys in the store that they can't have a toy they asked for because "it's for girls" and that breaks my heart It's just a toy and won't make them gay or suddenly change genders lol Comment from : @starlamoon286 |

My mother was very specific I was allowed to play with my brother's lego, but wasn't allowed any of my own And it took an awful lot of persuasion on my other brother's part to get her her to buy him an Action Man: shock horror, "dolls for boys!" Later on, someone bought my toddler daughter a little bus, and my mother did NOT approve That was in the 60's/70's Honestly! Comment from : @vivienhodgson3299 |

As for me, the babies looked rather at a loss than enthusiastic about the toys Comment from : @katsiashalmanava934 |

All the younger siblings in my generation had blocks, stuffed animals, manipulatives, put the shapes in the ball, toy piano, and occasionally, pedal cars, big wheels, basketballs, and bikes When I was 11 or 12, I really wanted the millennium falcon, But the relatives gave me a purse Comment from : @shawnholbrook7278 |

When I was younger, I remembered reading about gender studies from the old days My daughter had the normal toys and tools, cars, and games My son had normal toys and learned to cook, and I gave them both soft animals All my kids like to read, but I read voraciously My eldest's toy's all had families, my middle child loved armies, and my youngest likes performing They can all play together, and we've played stuff like battleship, scrabble , sorry, pretend-land, D&D, checkers, chess, Yahtzee, and card games They still have lots of girly or boy things that they have absorbed from schools and tv , but I want them to be able to take care of themselves and others, without worrying or nagging about which chores belong to whom Also, I want them to be kind, not act nice Comment from : @shawnholbrook7278 |

I don't think it's correct for everyone My parents didn't buy toys for us based on gender when we were babies Our toys are all educational toys And I didn't handle my baby sister like she was a girl In fact, I was more physical playing with her because she prefers physical stimulation She never liked soft toys even as a baby: she either squashed them or tossed them aside 😅 Comment from : @an8id62 |

I had my first child recently, and even though I’m a complete Tom boy, I have found myself more drawn to dressing her up in “girly clothes” with pink and such, and avoiding very “boyish” themes like tractors I am aware of how I am treating her differently already though and I am making an effort to deconstruct the social barriers my mind has developed over time, although doing that without going in the complete opposite direction (avoiding all “girly” things) has been a delicate balance Comment from : @twocents7509 |

A true experiment would be to leave the babies choose the toys they want I have a girl and a boy I never imposed toys They both had a large array of toys to choose from My daughter was drawn to LEGO from the get go, building blocks and crayons When she was 2 she played cooking Later on, when she was 4 years old she showed interest in role play and dolls, but she initiated it, she wanted to do that My son was drawn to cars since he was 4-5 months old, anything with wheels, placing blocks into the right shape He also loves teasing his sister, pulling her hair, but also pink objects and putting on his sister's sunglasses, he kisses his teddy bear and is gentle with our pet animal He is 2 and loves playing with cooking toys So I believe in letting children experience and see what is interesting to them and offer age appropriate toys Comment from : @ralucabogdan6032 |

I always give ky son toys that i think he would like as well as 'girl' toys and 'boy' toys such as dolls and other things such as barbies and carsbrbrHe is too mecanically inclined and very intuned with the emotional needs of those around him brbrHe has a decent contol over his emotions for a 2 year old while still wanting to take evrything apart Comment from : @crazyasalways9272 |

In real life, kids have time to explore a variety of toys and gravitate toward what they are interested in naturally There were 4 of us growing up (2 boys and 2 girls) and we all played together often with a variety of toysbrAlso these days in daycares and preschools, they have all the toys out and let kids play with everything I think there’s much less influence on stereotypes than previous generations Comment from : @lizwilson51 |

|
I tried some of these ideas with my little boy I bought him a dolls pushchair and a doll He used the pushchair to transport his trucks and books and he drew all over the doll with marker pen later he pulled its limbs off He never treated it as anything but an object He liked pulling things apart to see how they were constructed, he did it to lots of things including his computer , the doll was no different Comment from : @satsumamoon |

Changing them into opposite gender clothing and calling them the opposite gender was not necessary at all Just give them the opposite “gender” toys That was so weird and it felt kinda cruel hearing them call them the wrong gender I give my daughter “boy” and “girl” toys She loves both and is still a little girl So weird, girls and boys can love both or cannot doesn’t change their gender So calling them an opposite gender was so weird One can change their clothes and their toys but let’s not lie to them 😅 Comment from : @jazminramirez5291 |

When my little brother Jed was a little boy, he slept on a Dora the Explorer bed He also had a stuffed horse, which he named Horsey He also played with my Barbie dolls and stuffed animals while I was in school He also sang lullabies to my baby doll named Emily Now, he's 20 years old He is now a sensitive person who knows how to talk to people He also knows how to calm people down He is also very polite and forgiving His friends are all girls When my youngest brother Jeremiah was a little boy, he loved soft toys and superheroes He loved feeling my faux fur boots and my faux fur jacket He also loved babies He loved his teddy bear He is now 15 years old and will be 16 years old on September 17th He is very sweet and cute He always tells Mommy that he loves her whenever he goes upstairs If you're wondering about the teddy bear, we still have it It still looks brand new Comment from : @hannahduggan3599 |

I (as an afab only child) ended up with both a bunch of barbies and a shit tonne of hot wheels stuff (i mean that literally there was enough cars to cover the entire living room) and i remember having a very high preference for the hot wheels and later legos (though that didn't last long child me stepped on them like twice and decided they were the spawn of satan) from what i remember with the barbies i liked the horse the best and i did end up with so many cat dolls it was ridiculous (later i got majorly obsessed with cats they were the only thing i talked abt for like 3 years) i think the hot wheels came from dads old toys bc he was obsessed with finding a land rover in there while people bought me the barbies,, and the "ultimate garage" or whatever the thing was called only after i showed interest in hot wheels Comment from : @night-v8b |

In his book, the well-known Dutch primatologist Frans De Waal noted that female juvenile chimpanzees show nurturing behavior when given a doll, treating it as they would a baby chimp On the other hand, male juvenile chimpanzees tend to dismantle the doll to see what's inside brbrThe idea that toy preference is socially constructed is wrong Comment from : @BipolarBear-tc5oe |

Children will play any toys they find interesting, but my theory is that most kids for each gender will gravitate towards the "stereotypical toys” as they keep playing and as they grow older (which this experiment fails to explore) My daughter for instance, was never given any barbie toys, rather was given Legos (because I wanted her to develop her creativity that way) but she'd always ask for Barbies Comment from : @stephenchen8741 |

That's cool, but apparently these differences in choice between "tings" and "beings" have been observed even in chimpanzees, to the point that if you give a young male chimp a doll he'll play to destroy it and if you give a young female chimp an object-like toy she'll look after it and care for it So maybe what we, as adults do - is just to re-enforce some behaviour that is natural anyway And yes, of course: it's great to be open-minded and is a child happens to have "different" interests to go along with it and not put sticks on the wheel and allow them to express themselves as they truly and genuinely are But that doesn't mean that most of them are JUST what they are because of the biased influence that they've had Comment from : @rogerjimenez2782 |
|

Here is the difference between boys and girls toys;brgirls toys are all pink and dolls and makeup for kids and that sounds like something a toddler would play withbrboys toys are never pink and robots and building trains and puzzles and that sounds like something that would help a toddler to develop more brain cells Comment from : @brooklynQ |

You can't deny that psychologically men are inclined towards things and women towards people, generally speaking And that's why adults tend to give gender specific toys to children But I didn't heard someone to prohibit a boys to play with dolls and vice versa I think that we shouldn't suggest children what toys they should play with, but to ensure the availability of various toys and let them choose Comment from : @graurstefanilie3713 |
