Honestly only the connected zanu pf make huge sums of money here in Zimbabwe and a lot of capital they raised was through looting the white farmers decades ago Corruption is too high in Zimbabwe To make it worthwhile living in Zimbabwe you have to make millions upon millions of USD this is to cover retirement health education etc for your kids otherwise it’s not worth it there is no safety net in Zimbabwe The country has dictatorship for more than 40 years Zimbabwe people are ruthless racist and cut throat stealing is in their DNA

Currently in Harare, been asking myself the same question The cost of living here is so high I am Kenyan and things here are like 2-3x the price of things in Kenya It's even worse by the casual use of the USD I keep converting to KES and getting shocked I am also seeing lots of fancy high end and brand new cars I don't get it! The hotel I am staying has a chicken Inn nearby and it's packed from 7 am to 9 pm

It's not that people have disposable income to buy fast food it's that there so many power outages that you have to buy fast food You can't keep too much in the fridge cause the power outages make the meat go bad You can't budget a lot of water for cooking a ton of meals cause there isn't enough clean water for that either Plus if you are out of gas you will buy the fast food cause sometimes the nearest gas store is closed and you can't afford to go to town cause if you do by the time you get back the day will be basically over depending on how far you live from town

I have lived in Zimbabwe the whole of my life I have done a lot of research in trying to understand the difference between Rhodesia mindset and Zimbabwe mindset brIf you look at the infrastructure, the ZESA, Road, Rail and dams, including the industry which is key for the development of our country, most of it was built by Rhodesians The system was 98 formalized and it benefited even the marginalized brThe Zimbabweans mindset is mostly centered on me myself and i If you give me USD million, I would rather build 2 mansions in Borrowdale Our wealth is too selfish It does not benefit even my own children because they cant earn money from a mansion in Borrowdale Thats why no one is staying in those mansions Most of the children are now living in countries of our former colonizers Because in those countries they believe in Production not just building mansions We must put money into equipment, like innscor, delta and PPC just to mention a few People in the diaspora must form consortiums and invest in Mining like Zimplats Mimosa etc Guys this is 2024, lets think big Building mansions worth 4 million without the industry is a waste of resources
