Monero is much harder to off-ramp, that's why USD price dumped Anonimity vs pseudoanonimity I wonder why nobody came up with stablecoin with underlying Monero tech, it would be just like cash but better Comment from : @boccobadz |
So, is my understanding correct: this doesn’t become an issue until you send from an address? If you’re continuously receiving into one wallet when taking your BTC off of an exchange you are safe from this potential issue until you were ever to send BTC from that same wallet? If your only transactions are receiving you’re fine? Comment from : @AmenBeats |
Can you show how to navigate using a different address for CoinBase? Comment from : @yarnold4886 |
lol, BTC is not fungible and now you admitted Fungibility is what cash needs to be Coinjoin or any another L2 is NOT an option as Satoshi said on his WP Comment from : @rafaelreich5542 |
What about using geyser? It's reused right? or when people list their wallet address like strike for payment? Or when they automate self custody like some of the exchanges Those are all reusing correct? Comment from : @IamTheLastCasanova |
But this applies not only to bitcoin right? This is useful for any other crypto as well Comment from : @nikolailigai9802 |
Still a big problem of Tangem Wallet app, as only one address is provided Comment from : @CardSharkGermany |
One thing you haven't mentioned here is that each subsequent spend from the same address makes the corresponding private key easier and easier to brute force as more and more info gets revealed each spendbrbrThat's actually the primary reason you don't want to reuse addresses, though the rate at which private key is made easier to brute force depends on the wallet software creating the TX Some addresses have been reused thousands of times without becoming compromised, other addresses have been reused < 10 times and that was enough Comment from : @bitcoinmechanic |
This idea sounds good in theory, but using the same familiar address all the time makes it easier to manually check addresses for mistakes (typos, clipboard-manipulating malware, etc) That the privacy/security concern that this video mentioned and the UX/security issue that I mentioned exist just means that the bitcoin address UX has room to improve Comment from : @durianMasquerade |
What a Maxi just wow 🤯😳 Comment from : @queenmaria2878 |
Won't people know all of your transactions once you transfer your wallet balance? Your transaction will have all the UTXOs in one spot Comment from : @guitarislife01 |
Hello, I am new to Bitcoin I bought some recently, and all I heard was “get it off the exchange and onto a hardware/cold storage wallet!” I bought one (Tangem) and have been sending the max daily amount from my exchange in a rush to get it off there I have used the same ‘receive’ address for every transfer Is this fixable?brbrJust looking at my Tangem app now, I see a second ‘receive address’ option, but that’s it Looks like a need a different cold storage wallet I’m 63 and the UI for Tangem is what attracted me to it I’m not tech savvy, but I have finally opened my eyes to Bitcoin!brbrCan you make a follow-up video on what to do (if anything can be done) if you have used the same address several times? That would be very useful for newbies like me! brbrThank you! Comment from : @ccc-nb5ym |
and this is why monero is better imo Comment from : @m1natoh1nata |

are you retarded or just pretending to be? making new BTC addresses does nothing for privacy its easy for anyone to follow the chain of transfers this is the fatal flaw with the shitcoin of BTC this is why monero is the true cryptocurrency Comment from : @user-im6fy4qp6m |

this is pretty much impossible to stay hidden with crypto I dont care how smart you are, they will eventually find you because its all public and especially if u are stuck in america Comment from : @shaneofastrotek |
You're talking nonsense, all wallets are connected! All a person needs to do is to look at the transactions of your wallet and it will lead to your other wallets The moment you move that money you got it turns that wallet into a beacon to lead to your main anyways! Comment from : @The-AgeofAI |
So I sent to cbase Is there a way to get diff address I think ledger creates diff address each time so that is good Comment from : @rdbjbush |
Hi Matthew, thanks for all you do Quick question: if I use a bitcoin wallet like BlueWallet, and I spend part of a UTXO, one output is to the person that I’m paying and another goes into a change address (which is different from the original sender address) Would the bitcoin in the new change address still be susceptible to the potential quantum attack that you highlighted for reused addresses? (The change address is brand new and generated by the wallet software, so is only used once ie not reused) Comment from : @palanz |
As a long time EVM user, having a different receiving address in BTC confused me at first Doing some research, I realized it's better privacy wise I'm guessing the sending address also changes, is that right? I've never used my hardware wallet to send out yet, just stacking sats I've also only used my hardware wallet to generate the other receiving address How safe is the software on a computer which is connected to the internet when it generates other receiving address? I'm thinking there is a possibility that the Sparrow software on the computer could get compromised and would generate a fake receiving address which is not yours Would that be possible? Comment from : @rokusho777 |
Matt stop looking at my address 😂 Comment from : @NJAveraGeStiFf |
Tnx Comment from : @denissego8554 |
Matt can you please clarify if this concern of address reuse is in conflict with the other concern of having small utxo’s and consolidating them? Comment from : @WeeRockToyCo |
insightful thanks! Comment from : @anthonylinus |

Sorry to be vaguebrbrDuring an interview (i think Coinbase) a guy stated that they deposit bitcoin into a new wallet and withdraw a small amount from that wallet prior to using it for large amounts of bitcoinbrbrHe said this was to confirm that they had control of the wallet and could retrieve the bitcoinbrbrThis is in direct conflict with this video Comment from : @JimBarnz |
GREAT episode! this is sO important to know thank you Matthew Comment from : @thomasphillips2234 |
so for merchant use, it would be burdensome to have to create a fresh address every transaction would it be useful to say, put an exchange address out for the counter to use with customers and just send it to your cold/hot wallet every day/week when you reconcile the receipts? wouldn't that shield the end wallet address and still not leave a lot on an exchange? Comment from : @Atlasmehd |
Trezor lets you generate greah addresses right in the app Comment from : @shadowcodr |

Cardano uses the eUTXO model The crosschain interactions are imminent Comment from : @davidjackowski4336 |

🎉 Comment from : @natashadebonis |

Matthew, can you delve into the benefits of using Sparrow per it's highest security option (Electrum) I understand if you're doing this, it most likely coincides with greater familiarity with Sparrow (or similar hot wallets that offer the ability to connect with Electrum), as is, you'll probably be running the server per your own hosting, however for those considering their own infrastructure to support it as it's intended to be used, it would be great to see you explain it's niche as well it's pro's and con's in current day use (20242025) Comment from : @kylecurry6841 |
Hmm if only there was a superior blockchain that has privacy built into the base layer like Monero Comment from : @coltyngregoryify |
I'm not exactly new to this channel but when I started the ledger wallets were popular and I have my bitcoin on two of them I think they each only use a single address for all of my purchases over the past few years Can you post new video or a link to an old one that would describe the problems I might run into in the future I really don't want to get a new hardware system if I don't have to but would hate to be surprised by loosing my bitcoin, especially at these pricesbrbrthanks Comment from : @kelfeind |
Thanks for the continuous update! Bitcoin is on its way to breaking records, getting closer to hitting new high prices, showing that it's gaining more value and could go even higher than we've seen before I am super excited about how my crypto investment is going so far, making over 35k weekly is an amazing gain☺️ Comment from : @ZoyaRana53 |
Makes sense in not reusing wallet addresses -- but if you have 10,000 sales transactions in a few years, you're gonna keep track of 10,000 bitcoin addresses? Comment from : @googooboyy |
So with Sparrow someone can mask a BTC wallet with 'stealth' addresses to receive/send BTC? Comment from : @becoming_joel |
Great video as always! So what is the solution here? Never send any Bitcoin? I use a Coldcard with Sparrow and I've only ever sent from my main bag once to make sure everything went smoothly Now I'm a little concerned Comment from : @SenditBTC |
It appears that Tangem reuses the same receive address every time Guess it’s time for a cold card Comment from : @triplenickeltechnologies |
Can you explain the risks of using Robinhood to buy and store Bitcoin? Comment from : @Lairdini |
Monero doesn't have this issue even though you aren't a fan Matt haha Comment from : @tobyswift1966 |
I am SO glad that there is strong for non-KYC Bitcoin movement I though I would be in a small group of dissent "crazy" anarcho-capitalists but it seems more people know how true privacy is importantbrIdeally no one should know how much BTC you have, even that you have any and it's no one's business - it's your property! Comment from : @LiborTinka |
So sparrow is the best wallet? I still have my satoshis on coinbase and i'm panicking to take it off there Comment from : @sdrjr3562 |
thanks for your awesome content! I have a question WRT to network security thanks to the mining operations what will happen when the last bitcoin is mined, what will happen with the network security, when those miners are not needed anymore? how will the transaction cost compensate for some of that? I am lacking the knowledge of the consequences, when that time comes if that is of interest of you, maybe that could be the topic of a video thank you for all your work, helping bitcoin grow Comment from : @miguelpanta |
There are "Chain Surveillance" companies? Name me one please and how would they make money? What I am not sure about: Is there a legal exchange of IDs from KYC sources? Comment from : @liamhotspur9182 |
Nice video man Well done Comment from : @legionarius-z7x |
