Silver Dragons -- When you told Bill that the Greek idea that gods could have mortal offspring is "all made up" -- you actually touched upon the Hellenization of Judaism! Most Jews think that when the Hellenic belief that certain men could be "sons of gods" entered Judaism, those believers broke away from Judaism to form Christianity I know that as a Christian, you hold that Jesus was the son of a god -- and thus, although you may not have thought of it before, for you to be a Christian, the Hellenic belief that men can be the sons of gods is a fact of your faith and thus is not "all made up" With great respect, i am not trying to poke fun at you in any way, just trying to demonstrate the historical angle I too am not immune from the clashes between faith and historicity -- as a Jew myself, i am still dealing with the age-old problem of "Who were those Nephilim, anyway?"
