So, Ican send remittance to myself while I'm on vacation in the Philippines even if I'm not a permanent resident there ? Don't they require id with a permanent local address when you go in a withdraw it? Im a Filipino, Canadian citizen What are the pros and cons? Because it seems like the exchange rate is slightly better here Toronto than in the Philippines I'm just wondering how this(remittance) work Comment from : @gregmorales4985 |
Best and safest would be WISE, since Wise can forward funds direct to gcash, maya etc and most places can accept these e-wallets Comment from : @Rkcommuter |

I have Multiple ways to get Php Either of my TWO US ATM Cards One charges no Foreign Transaction Fees, the other charges 15 Local ATM Fees are 250php, I won't use the more expensive ATMs My Transfer Service ATM card charges no Foreign Transaction Fees on ONE, <$100usd Transaction from my Php Balance After that, $150usd PLUS 2 in Foreign Transaction Fees Once my Maya Debit Card Arrives, I'll have access to 18php ATM Fees Failing that: I COULD use a Remittance Service, but that attracts more attention If you can't tell, I like Multiple, Redundant sources of cash Comment from : @tedjohnson4451 |
ATM? NO! Cash Remittances? YES! Zoom and Wise is BEST! Comment from : @foreignerescapestothephi-lj3ls |

Thanks for everything you do JenniferbrThis question has nothing to do with this videos subject matter, but here goes How soon before my flight into the Philippines can I download the e-travel to get my QR Code? If i remember correctly, it used to be no more than 5 days? But that hopefully has changed?brbrThank you Comment from : @karlenzmann |
I have found that the best money changer rates are at the Manila Airport If you are on vacation and are flying through Manila, just change all of the money you might need to pesos there, and you are done The exchange rates at other airports (ie Cebu) are predatory Comment from : @whiskers78753 |
Thank you great information Comment from : @HawaiianoPH |
Suprised you dont talk about instapay and pesonet I transfer money with crypto, barely any fees on solana network, can also use btc network or lightning or the many other networks Converting usdt to php gets close to max rate not like the low rates on remmitance For example sending on xoom, would have to pay 5 dollars and get 56 php/usd vs usdt to php, no fee and 58 php/usd and is instant But i guess if you need to use pesonet to transfer to bdo account it will take a day, but instapay is 10 minutes into bdo account but can only transfer 50k each day, pesonet is 500k daily but you can raise your daily limit if you tak to the manager Comment from : @paulchi99 |
I’ve tried the following:brbrRemitly: instant electronic transfer from debit card, 0 fee but they make money on the lower exchange rate To ACH transfer, they charged $199 but again lower exchange rate but it was completed in a couple days, I think like 3 daysbrbrWise: I ACH transferred money using wise, it took 8 days to get the money Higher exchange rate Fee was just under $34 USD I won’t use againbrbrInstarem: tried to ACH transfer, even higher exchange rate, 0 fee 9 days and still waiting I won’t use againbrbrWire: direct from my US bank to Bank here, 1 day, 15 USD flat fee, good exchange rate My opinion, other than Remitly for small amounts or ATM card, this is the way to go for large sum, over 500K PHP was no problem Comment from : @petes1985 |
Thanks Jennifer enjoyed the video take care ❤ Comment from : @whatevertheworldholds |

OK, expats listen up and listen closely!brNEVER, NEVER, NEVER use ATMs or over the counter in banks to draw money in the PhilippinesbrbrSet up one or all of the FOLLOWING accounts: WISE, REMITLY, WORLD REMIT Each one uses the daily mid-market exchange ratebrOnce you have sent up the account, and linked your home bank to it; you can set yourself up as a 'Payee' / 'Recipient' brNow, you can send money from your bank account to yourself in the Philippines and collect cash at 1000s of Palawan Pawn ships, Bang ML HUILLEIR, CEBUANA HUILLEIR, up to $10,000 P500,000 per day /transactionbrOne fee is charged at the point of exchange in the appbrNo other fee is charged at point of collectionbrbrI have done this for the past 8 years it works 100 and takes seconds to 15 - 30 minutes arrive brbrYou are welcome Comment from : @jeh1333 |

Do not trust the ATM in the Philippines These bank staff will not do shit to help you and they think they’re above you when you ask for help They’re God damn useless The way I fund myself while in Philippines is to send myself some money through remittance app like WorldRemit and pick up the cash from either Cebuana Lhuillier or MLhuillier Goodbye ATM! Comment from : @penyenskye |

My first visit to the philippines, when I tried to withdraw money from ATM I got a message, "invalid card" I thought this meant NY American ATM card wasn't accepted by local atm Eventually I learned it meant I was trying to withdraw more than the limit Very misleading message Lately I've seen more useful messages, like " withdrawal exceeds maximum amount" Im not sure if that's because I'm using different arms or if the messages have improved over time Comment from : @markjohansen6048 |

Husband’s experience - 46 years ago Peso was 7 to $1 US we arrived and mother- in- law would walk around looking for a money changer This guy would show up with stacks of money in his belt around his stomach, this guy, wife and her mother would go into a side room It all seemed kind of sneaky Comment from : @janetceniza8091 |
And you can also use your credit card to the grocery Comment from : @Mylifeasahousewife |

Limit is only for reportingbrIn the US there is no limit on how much you can bring You must report any amount over the limit, if not and you are caught, they will seize any amount over the limitbrP I will steal from you on every chance they can, dont give them an easy way Comment from : @thomasodetinape4180 |
Best and cheapest way to get money is to wire it to yourself using World Remit Comment from : @thomasodetinape4180 |
I’ve been using my Charles Schwab card in the Philippines, in different cities and places, with no issues And I never had an ATM machine here take my card Plus end of the month all those ATM fees that you were charged for get reimbursed 😉brbrOne thing to note; my Charles Schwab card has never worked when using a BDO ATM Don’t know why? Lastly, Philippine ATMs will ask if you want to use their conversion rate—hit NO and you’ll still get your money It’s another junk fee they trying to get Comment from : @marvinphillips1326 |
Excellent video Jennifer People must know these things I send money to my wife's BDO account ahead of time But we both carry cash (crisp new $100 bills), under the $10,00000 limit of course And exchange as we need the peso So far so good in all our trips I use credit cards for airlines, hotels and sometimes malls (big purchases) Comment from : @gerrymcnally9344 |
You need a rich classmate who owns a bank One phone call and all my dollars got converted to brand new fresh pesos while we were having lunch at the country club Comment from : @leunam3434 |
if i use world remit per example, how much can i send myself without having issues? i assume if i send myself 10 000$ or even 5 000$, the teller might say its too much for them etc better go with something smaller like 2 000$ or 3 000$?? Comment from : @joloui2035 |
I signed up on Worldremit using your referral code, thank youFYI, via mobile sign-up, it provided a $10 referral bonus, not $15 Not a big deal but I thought to inform in case web sign-up is different In regards to Wise, I am very disappointed in them They held up a transfer to the PH because I wrote "Gong Hei Fat Choy" on the memo They wanted to know who the person was and if Choy was a reference to Khoy Iranunbelievable Comment from : @katolau |
How about BDO banks? Comment from : @jerrysmith9851 |
Best way is to apply GCash Card and transfer money to that card ATM fee is 10-20 pisos only Comment from : @user-bv2kv8hx5d |
