Maybe try out dry ice blasting its all the rage with automotive restorations it can clean dirt off without disturbing wax marks and assembly line marks which make vehicles more valuable

Soak a coin like this in olive oil for a week or two and the concretion will slough completely off, leaving bare metal with no tool marks 👍

I used to do this as a hobby I got two batches of dirty coins and cleaned and identified them I got a silver coin of Julia Domna/Septimius Severus minted in Tomis; a bronze coin of Licinius, the enemy of Constantine, minted in Cyzicus; and a Constantius II Fel Temp Reparatio bronze coin Those are the ones that were the most impressive
