One of the best guitar solo's of all time Jimmy Lyon created a masterpiece with this guitar solobrHis solo work on those first two "Eddie Money" albums was fabulous Comment from : @thebluesrockers |
Bro , I'm just half way through, and I gotta pause Grrrrreat lesson! Comment from : @cheagan |
God, you're boring Comment from : @johnperez7276 |
It kind of reminds me of a Dicky Betts kind some on blue sky with the pull offs Comment from : @buckbryant8599 |
I always enjoy your tutorials, I have been working on this tune for a couple of days The worst part for me is the verse rhyme But I prefer to play stuff note for note Love your guitar finish too by the way Comment from : @buckbryant8599 |
@4:09 "what key is it in?" It's A mixolydian the whole time (same chords as D major and B minor but centered on A) Comment from : @michaelkenny3412 |
I just watched a cover of this by the Lexington Lab Band (which remined me of your lesson) and the guitar player just rips it up I wish I could talke lessons from you in person, there are so many things i know that I don't know what it is I'm really doing, and that if I did, maybe I would be a better player Thanks for all the videos Comment from : @cerclesvicieux |
2 chickens with parasites Comment from : @VPicksGuitarPicks |
This solo is just top top of the guitar food chain great Super nice performancebravo Comment from : @John-x9x2q |
Excellent tutorial! Spot on This is one of the best solos on record, one of my personal Top Five faves I love that whistling major 3rd feedback note at the end Jimmy Lyons had to be pretty loud and facing his amp in order to get that feedback note Fortunately, the engineer let the tape run Lyons had to have done that before He just waited for it to happen because he knew it would Hendrix would have been proud! Comment from : @larrypower8659 |
how to get this kind of sound??? Comment from : @MrAabbhhiisshheekk |
A still sound like home to me in the chorus, but as usual, excellent work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Comment from : @christophersabatini |
I love the kick Andy gets out of the phrases, as if discovering them for the first time, even though he has been listening to, and playing them, for years Comment from : @kahlesjf |
I think YouTube removes my likes Comment from : @cerclesvicieux |
Really like the repetition in teaching the phrases of the song Really helps Self taught, no theory or note reading Barely can keep the string names straightbrAt 12:30 onward even the slowed down is just too quick for my eyes to follow your finger placement clearly Comment from : @rishz7857 |
No pickguard and zebra pickups Les Paul perfection Pickguards and covered pickups ruin every guitar they're on Comment from : @jacksonmarshallkramer5087 |
😀😀 Comment from : @mauricioferreira4157 |

Its hard to explain solos but you did it lol Comment from : @TheUnpreparedMind |
Thanks for this lesson, it's truly amazing and you're a great teacher But the last part of the solo sure isn't the "easiest part" to me lol sure, it's just a two string hammer-on triplet and I can play it at like 85 or 90 (maybe) speed, but to hit it at full speed and stay on beat throughout the entire 4 measures and not get lost is not at all easy for me In fact I've yet to see anyone on YouTube truly hit that ending of the solo like Jimmy Lyon did on that recording So clean and smooth Comment from : @thomhickey4277 |
Great lesson Thank you !! 🤘🎸 Comment from : @fasteddierocs |
Don’t you think you could add that harmonic with your right handbr(Aka, Eddy Van Halen)? Comment from : @rdpurdom |
May not be the most complicated solo, but it does sound like Paradise Thanks for showing us Comment from : @andifisaytoyoutomorrow0 |

Gr8 tune and another one of your patented gr8 lessons IMO one of the best rock solos and you nail it as usual Your ability to break up the solo into individual phrases helps the learning process with a "chunking" approach Gonna take me a while, but with your help I hope to nail it too! TYVM for sharing Comment from : @thomascroce4672 |
'The Man in Black'brJohnny Cash would approve ✌️ Comment from : @brucelee4996 |

Absolute perfect use of the major scale! Comment from : @timmyjams |
Very well done Thank you! Comment from : @lefty1949 |
This is not to doubt your excellent tutorials; however, many times it better to hear the original song/lead before you break it all down That way, it puts its all together Just having several licks combined is nice, but some of us have heard, for instance, "Two tickets" in years Comment from : @chromiumveins |

So, on the harmony lick (very helpful) if there isn't a 2nd guitarist - how could one use a harmonist to replicate that lick? Key of A or D? What scale? Not a 3rd or 5th so? Thanks in advance Comment from : @huskynation2318 |
