There's only one reason why the machine reads "for commercial use only" Comment from : @cometcal2 |
With Trump's tariffs, we'll all soon be using these Comment from : @raderator |
I love appliances without computers!!!! Just give me my old Maytag back, my old Whirlpool dishwasher that was a real workhorse for almost 30 years!!! I even hate my new car because it has a ridiculous amount of computer interference - as if I need the darn car to tell me that my a** is in the seat!!! Comment from : @dsmith9796 |
My mom had one She also had a maytag washer Comment from : @Patricia-jj2pd |
I have the speed queen tr7love it Comment from : @joannescott7210 |
I bought a speed queen almost like this one unfortunately mine has the electronics Horrible, it ruins a great washer I will find a way to buy a plain jane washer next time Comment from : @MountainwithaView |
How do you purchase these for home use? Comment from : @helenveasey7318 |
I worked for a moving company, we did removals and clean outs as well Right around the time i was moving and needed a washer and dryer we did a clean out at a condo and they were tossing a whirlpool ultimate care II washer and dryer set that worked perfectly fine My bosses were awesome and had no problem with me taking em home brbrThis was before i started repairing appliances for a living and i had no idea how fortunate i was Guys, i can actually set the load size and it fills with the lid open, no electronic control boards, no lock at all 🤯 Comment from : @bobbyhumphrey199 |
I have my parents 1974 Kenmore It is still a great washer It is a question of whether it or I will die first 😃 Comment from : @glenncordova4027 |
Speed Queen makes the best washers period This is no surprise Comment from : @glenncordova4027 |
I love this I am blind I cannot read any of the displays on these newfangled washers and dryers And all they are is technology that’s just gonna break I have an old washer and dryer, 30 years old that I bought from Sears way back in the day They’re still going strong and I hope they will continue to for many more years but when they do give up the ghost, I am getting speed, clean washer and dryers Comment from : @nogames8982 |
"Laundrymats" Comment from : @jmdavison62 |
I wish Speed Queen made dishwashers Comment from : @jeromedavis8575 |
You don't want to buy I wheril pool Comment from : @louislerma545 |
Roper had them until a few years ago It's all I ever bought, could get them for 500 bucks for the pair but last one in like 2014 was 600 Still going strong My family has been using them since the 90's and very few of them An old timer said the same thing you are Comment from : @Redfour5 |
Im going to get one Comment from : @ANDERSONEXPRESS7 |
They don't want these for household use because they passed regulations to put the computers in them to regulate the water usage Seriously? Do they realize that we will just be washing more loads since there is less water? You won't be saving on water because people can wash as many times as they want, it will only increase you electric bills most likely Comment from : @muffin2u63 |
My old Maytag washer heavr duty deluxe is mechanical I've replaced the drive coupler 4 times But that's it Comment from : @Joe_Blo |
I'd marry that queen Comment from : @tonrusso4821 |
Mechanical washers are still widely available They click, klang, snort and pop, but they are tanks You can get the new at any box store, and cheap Don't believe it when you are told you can't get one Comment from : @markmurto |
I adore my TR-5 Speed Queen! Comment from : @fearsomebeard4290 |
My 93 Maytag that I bought new for $32300, looks just like the SQ and is still going strong Timer lasts around 10 to 13 years I’m on my third ($150) timer now and the drum brake is squealing after spin cycle On the fence about replacing the brake May be time to Comment from : @ricknelson947 |
the term “has a computer in it,” used to mean that it would last forever Comment from : @lomein2186 |
In Florida lightning destroys computerized appliances Comment from : @delallegood5799 |
Speed Queen is the BEST! Comment from : @rhondaholman9628 |
I love SpeedQueen washers and dryers, everyone should have a set, but the simple physics of it all is all would be well if these companies made even a half-ass effort on their electronics Electronics and non-human interface mechanics are more reliable than trusting humans to turn knobs tens of thousands of times, but I can't help but think there is some planned obsolescence involved, or just plan corporate laziness There is ZERO reason for electronics not to be exceptionally reliable, even the boards that are in super-heated self-cleaning ovens (insulation and distance is not difficult) Comment from : @CoronadoBruin |
No water level switch Comment from : @tonytorre9432 |
So why can’t regular people buy these for their homes? Comment from : @saimaleon7115 |
My Maytag from forty years ago was like this and is still going Gave it away to a neighbor when I bought a fancy new one which only lasted 8 years! Comment from : @saimaleon7115 |
I have an Amana commercial that looks just like this except I think I have one more knob agitator looks the same I'm just wondering how I would get parts for it I think I'm going to have to do a rebuild I'm getting a high speed bearing noise I'm pretty sure that's what it is it's on the spin cycle it's the only time it makes noise but the damn thing is at least 30 years of age and it is straight up timer I do not want to get rid of it Comment from : @PC_CERTIFIED |
Drove across the state for our set Thanks, Wranglerstar 🤙 Comment from : @RCFlyBoy314 |
have the home version front load with computer but it's great too Comment from : @billger5710 |
I have a washer and dryer, one is Kenmore the other maytag, I bought them from a lady that was getting new ones She sold them to me because we had just bought a house (2013) the price was $300 for both She owned them for a while before I actually bought them from her - I still have them 😊 yes the dryer has not gotten hot a few times but my husband was able to fix the problem I love them I actually mentioned to my husband that if we EVER need new ones, I want the same ones! Not the new computer type ones 😂 Comment from : @CDRDDJ |
It was that old Maytag Speed queen with Maytag control panel Comment from : @anthony4701 |
Do they have the speed queen as a front loader? Does anyone know? Comment from : @EchezonaDibia |
A mechanical timer absolutely does not mean it's less likely to break down The Speed Queen doesn't break down because it's built to be durable It was designed to durable a long time ago and Speed Queen doesn't mess with what works It's also not built like an "old Maytag" Speed Queen has always been commercial quality You can blame the Biden administration for washer and dryer quality going to hell I have no idea why politicians think they have any damn business interfering in the appliance market Comment from : @nonyadamnbusiness9887 |
How would one go about buying one of these washers? This is exactly what I want I’ve been on the lookout for a vintage washer in usable condition for years but this would be just as nice The last washer I had was a 70s model I inherited from my grandmother but I was unable to move it myself due to a recent open heart surgery when I moved almost 8 years ago and I’ve gone without a washer since because I don’t want to buy something that is going to need replaced in a year or two Comment from : @Selaithify |
Is it actually "built like a tank"? Let's take a look under the hood before we believe that statement The fact that the warranty is only 3 years possibly betrays that it is not built like a tank Comment from : @scottyhehehe5367 |
They are made in Wisconsin and I believe they have a longer warranty than that if you buy them at a regular appliance store not Lowe's or Home Depot I want to say it's 10 years but even if it does break it's going to take very little to fix it Comment from : @robbyers7614 |
Never getting rid of our Kenmore 80 Series! Comment from : @johnboy76122 |
I got the exact same one and I paid $150 in scratch and dent and this thing works perfectly fine Comment from : @andywilliams9910 |
Just got one from TEMU half the price, only difference was it was spelled Spead Quean Comment from : @edwardmclaughlin719 |
We have one of those "old " Maytags It's 39 or 40 years old and still kicking it! Comment from : @chriscromwell1682 |
Why is this not available for consumers? Why only for commercial use? Comment from : @Cylon1983 |
Why aren't you supposed to use it at home? Comment from : @ianr1557 |
I hate my speed queen Comment from : @MargaritaPerez-f1y |

Made in Ripon WI home of the Republican party Comment from : @craignehring |
Funny this washer was a disgrace before high efficiency washers existed Now it is considered the best? That just shows you how bad current ones are Comment from : @MichaelRei99 |
Yes Speed Queen!!! Thats what i have!!! All the other new models do not hold up!!! Comment from : @Child-k9h |
For any layman’s out there, this man is speaking the truth Comment from : @waxedearth5425 |
And it's basically off the market Comment from : @Jordi7174 |
I love the basic, almost dated appearance of it I’ve heard all my life that SQ is the absolute top in terms of reliability Comment from : @EmilyTienne |
A client had a speed queen washer and dryer delivered while i was doing a renovation on her house She bought them because they were the only models available immediately during the covid supply chain crisis I'm buying them for my next washer and dryer because I'm fairly certain they'll OUTLIVE ME Comment from : @curtbalch2321 |
100 analog Speed Queen, doesn't get any better than that Comment from : @Mr_D555 |
Too bad they are like $2750 for the pair Comment from : @flycrew |
I respect durability, but I like the capacity of front loaders for comforters, pillows, and so on I wish they used more water though Comment from : @DouglasGross6022 |
We had those Speed Queens in our college dorms and we all complained at how they didn’t get the clothes clean and how we had to wash whites and gym clothes/sports attire twice No doubt they are reliable as far as the build quality, but I definitely wouldn’t call them the “best” washing machines when they don’t do a very good job of actually washing clothes Comment from : @HenryBloggit |
looks to be an exact replica of how we built washing machines for 50 years up until 2000, when 'planned obsolescense" was on the lips of every company leaders mouthbrbrthose machines still would wear out, but it took 30 years new machines take 5 years and they don't sell parts to fix them Comment from : @LygerTheCLaw |
This Speed Queen Heavy Duty Washer can be opened with another Speed Queen Heavy Duty Washer 😂 Comment from : @koriko88 |
The fact that commercial grade washing machines don't use computers tells you everything Comment from : @ChristiRich |
Speed Queens and Maytags are among the best washers ever made Comment from : @veronicahawthorne3452 |
I was sold until the 'made in America' part Comment from : @outofstock22 |
Our family had these machines in the 70s and 80s and we never had one single problem Comment from : @luigiperrone8169 |
This is Made in America, and you can’t have it You are only allowed to buy washers like this that are made in China, Korea, or Mexico Comment from : @patrickmccartney2418 |
I have pretty much that exact model but it’s an Amana Parents bought new in 1995, 30 years old and still runs as good as new Only thing I’ve had to do is replace the pump, belt, and tension spring, maybe $30-40 in parts And the belt/spring weren’t even bad, just replaced them as preventative maintenance since I was in there anyways for the pump They’re so simple and easy to work on and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another in the case that this one ever fails, which it won’t lol Comment from : @Bryan_OU812 |
One Excellent Thing! Make more excellent things in 2025! Comment from : @hawktheexcellentwaysociety111 |
This is the one we bought My wife was so excited to feel the click of that mechanical timer It easily weighs twice as much as the average washer you find today Comment from : @kd6836 |
Similliar to the old Amana washers Comment from : @robertlyman9789 |
I have a Hot Point washer and dryer that came with my house that look basically like this one It works great except that it seems like it doesn't fill up with enough water, even on the large load setting So I hace to hold the 3-way dial between medium and large loads to get it to just fill up with water until I let go of the dial It's annoying, and maybe a service person could fix it, but this is what I've done for about 3 years now Comment from : @golfboy83 |
How does a computer break down Comment from : @EffdaBlx |
