I love appliances without computers!!!! Just give me my old Maytag back, my old Whirlpool dishwasher that was a real workhorse for almost 30 years!!! I even hate my new car because it has a ridiculous amount of computer interference - as if I need the darn car to tell me that my a** is in the seat!!!

I worked for a moving company, we did removals and clean outs as well Right around the time i was moving and needed a washer and dryer we did a clean out at a condo and they were tossing a whirlpool ultimate care II washer and dryer set that worked perfectly fine My bosses were awesome and had no problem with me taking em home brbrThis was before i started repairing appliances for a living and i had no idea how fortunate i was Guys, i can actually set the load size and it fills with the lid open, no electronic control boards, no lock at all 🤯

I love this I am blind I cannot read any of the displays on these newfangled washers and dryers And all they are is technology that’s just gonna break I have an old washer and dryer, 30 years old that I bought from Sears way back in the day They’re still going strong and I hope they will continue to for many more years but when they do give up the ghost, I am getting speed, clean washer and dryers

Roper had them until a few years ago It's all I ever bought, could get them for 500 bucks for the pair but last one in like 2014 was 600 Still going strong My family has been using them since the 90's and very few of them An old timer said the same thing you are

They don't want these for household use because they passed regulations to put the computers in them to regulate the water usage Seriously? Do they realize that we will just be washing more loads since there is less water? You won't be saving on water because people can wash as many times as they want, it will only increase you electric bills most likely

I love SpeedQueen washers and dryers, everyone should have a set, but the simple physics of it all is all would be well if these companies made even a half-ass effort on their electronics Electronics and non-human interface mechanics are more reliable than trusting humans to turn knobs tens of thousands of times, but I can't help but think there is some planned obsolescence involved, or just plan corporate laziness There is ZERO reason for electronics not to be exceptionally reliable, even the boards that are in super-heated self-cleaning ovens (insulation and distance is not difficult)

I have an Amana commercial that looks just like this except I think I have one more knob agitator looks the same I'm just wondering how I would get parts for it I think I'm going to have to do a rebuild I'm getting a high speed bearing noise I'm pretty sure that's what it is it's on the spin cycle it's the only time it makes noise but the damn thing is at least 30 years of age and it is straight up timer I do not want to get rid of it

I have a washer and dryer, one is Kenmore the other maytag, I bought them from a lady that was getting new ones She sold them to me because we had just bought a house (2013) the price was $300 for both She owned them for a while before I actually bought them from her - I still have them 😊 yes the dryer has not gotten hot a few times but my husband was able to fix the problem I love them I actually mentioned to my husband that if we EVER need new ones, I want the same ones! Not the new computer type ones 😂

A mechanical timer absolutely does not mean it's less likely to break down The Speed Queen doesn't break down because it's built to be durable It was designed to durable a long time ago and Speed Queen doesn't mess with what works It's also not built like an "old Maytag" Speed Queen has always been commercial quality You can blame the Biden administration for washer and dryer quality going to hell I have no idea why politicians think they have any damn business interfering in the appliance market

How would one go about buying one of these washers? This is exactly what I want I’ve been on the lookout for a vintage washer in usable condition for years but this would be just as nice The last washer I had was a 70s model I inherited from my grandmother but I was unable to move it myself due to a recent open heart surgery when I moved almost 8 years ago and I’ve gone without a washer since because I don’t want to buy something that is going to need replaced in a year or two

They are made in Wisconsin and I believe they have a longer warranty than that if you buy them at a regular appliance store not Lowe's or Home Depot I want to say it's 10 years but even if it does break it's going to take very little to fix it

We had those Speed Queens in our college dorms and we all complained at how they didn’t get the clothes clean and how we had to wash whites and gym clothes/sports attire twice No doubt they are reliable as far as the build quality, but I definitely wouldn’t call them the “best” washing machines when they don’t do a very good job of actually washing clothes

I have pretty much that exact model but it’s an Amana Parents bought new in 1995, 30 years old and still runs as good as new Only thing I’ve had to do is replace the pump, belt, and tension spring, maybe $30-40 in parts And the belt/spring weren’t even bad, just replaced them as preventative maintenance since I was in there anyways for the pump They’re so simple and easy to work on and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another in the case that this one ever fails, which it won’t lol

I have a Hot Point washer and dryer that came with my house that look basically like this one It works great except that it seems like it doesn't fill up with enough water, even on the large load setting So I hace to hold the 3-way dial between medium and large loads to get it to just fill up with water until I let go of the dial It's annoying, and maybe a service person could fix it, but this is what I've done for about 3 years now
