One of the things that annoyed me about the movie, "Lethal Weapon" which came out in 1987, was when Riggs and Murtaugh come into a warehouse full of pallets of currency in bundles They say in awe, "These are thousand dollar bills!" At that time, there probably weren't that many $1000 bills ever printed, let alone together in a warehouse as the profits for illegal activity

Since you covered coins but no mention of the half-cent?
