There wasn't ANY 1948, or 1949 proof sets!!!!!

I have a couple of these that I haven't taken out and sent to PCGS yet I found out the hard way than an unopened cellophane does NOT translate into original packaging, or a high grade I bought a supposedly "opened by mistake" 1938 proof set last year, but I have heard from a couple people since (including you now) that they didn't even start selling them in boxes like this until 1950! And here I am exposing myself as an idiot in the comments

Once you get before 1955, many of the coins, individually, sell in the range that I only feel comfortable with certified anyway, especially the halves and even more so when you do the run from 42 back

1955 came boxed or flat pack Those in flat pack were nicer Got more $ for the boxed ones Hardly ever saw a nice boxed proof

Well i can tell you why the sell for less (but its not a good reason) people pay extra from them in the cellos becouse there thinking its more likely to find a deep cam and 2nd because a lot of time they get diped and mix matched before going in the capital holders im a big fan ill by ether if the price is right and i dont send in for cameos

From my experience, the 1954 proof sets were issued in boxes with the coins in the brittle plastic as well as the later ones in 1954 being issued in the softer 'poly ' bags , as your video displays an example of each In 1955, there were flat packs as well as box sets that were issued in the stapled soft 'poly' style with the boxed stamped 1955

c'mon ben there are no 1948 proof sets they started proof sets again in 1950 after the initial sets from 1936-1942

My first proof set was a 1954 in original packaging given to me by a great aunt who purchased multiple proof sets every year starting in 1936 I wish I knew what became of her collection when she died

I love older proof sets I've added some pages to my Lincoln Cents Albums, for the Proof, Rev, and special editions, 1936 to date Just makes a nice addition Still need some and that darn 1909s vdb Take care

Both my 54 sets came in the bags not the cello Had some great toning on the half dollar Love old proof coins

Hi, Ben I like the Fifties and Sixties proof sets with silver coins They used to be the red-headed stepchild of dealers You could pick them up cheap Not so much anymore The silver price has increased their price I like those coins certified in a high-grade cameo Even the cents and nickels are worth good money in a high-grade cameo bTYU/b

You mentioned 1948 They stopped making them in 1942 and resumed in 1950

I got a 1953 proof set and the half looks amazing but ut does have some brutal clouding on it Would love to get it certified but would you suggest it to go through conservation first? Can conservation remove clouding from proofs?

You gotta get a 1942 proof set in original packaging!! I am always on the hunt for a 1942 proof (cameo) nickel One of my all time favorite US coins! I have a pf66 that I bought for 90$ It's a beauty
