This video doesn’t say what SEL is but only lists what they believe to be the benefits of it Why not provide an example so we can learn more about it? Comment from : Jason |
I want to see the research I wonder if the statistics are built on the fact that it is the more well-adjusted kids who are willing to participate in SEL, which would render the statistics meaningless Comment from : Matthew Oakley |

Ok, I got the "feel good" part of this video, now What does this all mean? It is a no brainer to say that our children need to learn social and emotional skills But I want to see what these people actually do to make all this goodness happen This sounds very creepy to me Comment from : Power Surge |
How is the research factial if SEL hasn't been around longer than a few year and the only research that has been processed is childs subjective surveys? Comment from : D Gonzo |
I work daily on Social- Emotional Learning skills with my 8th graders They are at the age where they do not make good decisions and lots of impulsive behaviors I believe SEL is very important in the classroom for today's children It will help stop the "from the school to prison" road a lot of our students who are on that road Comment from : Sharon Kay Snowton |
What’s strange about this, is they are finding that’s children who aren’t learning this at home aren’t allowing the information to sink in while at school Parents seems to be a bigger factor in the behavior of their children than our schools would have hoped Comment from : Jessica Bustillo |
Well I have to say that in such a case Social Emotional Learning is Fabulous and very much needed With the world of people going through this pandemic it is very hard to get by by being isolated as we were But at the same time to teach empathy is By far not easy The mess of not understanding others goes deep there is the attitude of being bullies! And this has deep roots from even before the Pandemic brHey Im all for it and this should have been taught ages ago brThe hardships the cruelty even Teachers Boarding schools have been atrocious! Oh I wish all teachers sucess in Teaching SELbr💕💙💕🌍💙💞 Comment from : Marisela Gypsy |
El video muestra la importancia de las socio emociones hasta el momento no sabia que tan inportante eran pero al ver el video me quedo claro su inportancia y la contribución ante la sociedad Comment from : Saflix |

I’m trying to make sense of this from a Cognitive Science perspective… Sweller says biologically primary skills cannot be taught (these get picked up automatically by the student) while biologically secondary skills (like math, reading and writing) need to be taught explicitly Aren’t SEL skills biologically primary? If they are secondary, is there an SEL curriculum? In the video I heard that students who have strong SEL skills do better in school and life in general but that doesn’t mean it can be taught - just that there is a relationship between being “well adjusted” and life skills that are valued in society Help me see how SEL is teachable, please Thank you Comment from : Samuel Altarac |
