Well I have to say that in such a case Social Emotional Learning is Fabulous and very much needed With the world of people going through this pandemic it is very hard to get by by being isolated as we were But at the same time to teach empathy is By far not easy The mess of not understanding others goes deep there is the attitude of being bullies! I’m trying to make sense of this from a Cognitive Science perspective… Sweller says biologically primary skills cannot be taught (these get picked up automatically by the student) while biologically secondary skills (like math, reading and writing) need to be taught explicitly Aren’t SEL skills biologically primary? If they are secondary, is there an SEL curriculum? In the video I heard that students who have strong SEL skills do better in school and life in general but that doesn’t mean it can be taught - just that there is a relationship between being “well adjusted” and life skills that are valued in society Help me see how SEL is teachable, please Thank you
