$1,000 cremation seven years ago now costs $2500 plus $200 more if you have a pacemaker in January 2025 and the cost is still going upbrbrOur friend had a rent house and his renters wife died - they had no money for cremation- so he paid for it $1,100 a year or more ago at the cheapest place in middle NC brbrWe buried my father in laws ashes and I found that very difficult thing to do Very hard to do it yourself He is resting in a cemetery but has no marker We couldn’t afford one His other son lives in a very small old mobile home and we couldn’t justify spending $2500 on a marker when they don’t really have a good place to live And the widow sits around cold in winter because she can’t afford heat

In Texas death row inmates are given a choice to donate their organs as well as their body after being executed Many of these inmates don't have families or the families have disowned them because they are in prison

My advanced directive clearly indicates my desire for my body to be donated to science There are several reasons why One of which is that the cost of a traditional funeral can run well over $10,000 It's a billion-dollar industry It is predatory on the vulnerable -- Which is objectively immoral Another reason, is that whatever I have done in life, at least I can be of some value in death

I was raised by my grandparents My grandma died in 1997 and grandfather in 2010 They both willed their bodies to science for UCSF We got a really nice letter back from UCSF after my grandma died ❤

My mother just passed this Sunday 9/11… only to find out her will stated she wanted to be donated to science I cannot wait to get her back into my arms She will be cremated… I just know it will not feel the same to know what her body has been through I’m just absolutely devastated and not know how to feel about any of this

I became a whole body recently,I’m 71 and I’ve lived a good productive life ,I’m a retired nurse I feel it’s my way of giving back to anyone who needs what can be harvested from my bodybrI’ve been involved in many honor walks,I was an RN for 20 years 5 of these were spent on an Oncology unit,I’ve been retired for 42 years now ,and I still remember my terminally ill cancer patients names,I think it’s a good way to repay to those who had to suffer ,and perhaps give these who suffer now a new lease on life

My 38 year old son is a homeless man by his own choice He is not (life) insurable Should he pass before me, I will most likely donate his body first, because at least in his death he will have contributed to Humanity and also, a funeral would take most of my savings Unless he marries, I am his legal next of kin This idea was presented to me by a caring friend who understood my dilemma should he pass
