I just learned some new words to improve my vocabulary, such as "attention span", "inference", "skimming" and, "superficially" Also, it is great to know that deep learning helps to develop three super powers: creativity, intelligence and empathy Comment from : @jpgga |
I agree with u I totally noticed that when I read from a paper book, I’m able to concentrate on the plot of the book Also it’s more enjoyable than reading e-books And watching this podcast I realised how much it’s essential to our brain reading books such as develops critical thinking, creativity and activates different areas of our brain, etc On the other hand electronic books are much more uncomfortable and hurt eyesight, also because of the notifications we just lose our attention span😔 Comment from : @WeekendBruno |

I have always been a bibliophile, so rather than reading books, I immensely fancy the idea of holding books in my hand, keeping them in a clean and pristine state, and putting them properly and neatly on the shelf Thus, the act of reading books on screen, like from a tablet, laptop, or Kindle, is far too uninteresting to me and usually causes sore eyes Surprisingly enough, through this episode, I not only learn new helpful vocabulary but also figure out that there are many more benefits from reading paper materials instead of reading from electronic devices, one of which is increasing attention span and reinforcing deep-reading skillsbrbrI highly encourage anyone who hasn’t read any books before to start reading a very simple, short, and easy-going book for the joy of it first, whether it is a fictional, romantic, fantasy, or children's classic book, and don’t try to coerce yourself into reading something too informative and heavy-going just because you think it’s a must Every book has its own messages and morals; even if you merely start reading for the joy of it rather than extracting information or doing research, I believe that you will become a book lover one day!brThank you, BBC, especially Phil and Georgie, for being such brilliant presenters I’m inspired by your beautiful and charming British accents, and I’m working on improving mine too!😊 Comment from : @Emmasaoirse-28 |

I do believe it doesn't matter the knowledge or information you get in the form of book paper pages or from a screen, rather than the way you get it through😃& second the frequency you review it to memorize it🤔third is to what extent you are interested in🥳afterall those notifications should be subjected to scientific search on accurate basis to get true results & recommendations👍 Comment from : @SherienElBehery |

I think reading, either with a physical book or with a kindle/on screens, is equally great It's important to find what suits you and your situation For example, when I really need to read a book and I don't want to wait for its delivery, I opt for the kindle version It just works beautifully I used to be torn over this dilemma, but now it's no longer an issue for me Comment from : @alext3760 |

Here is a big advantage to reading books: many of them were written before the internet, and consequently, there was a higher standard of writing in order to be published Today, anyone can put something on a screen There are many errors in syntax, word choice, spellingthere is a long list of writing failures today Read the classics of English literature from UK and American authors, and you will have a far greater understanding of the language For example, I am learning French and Spanish, and my learning will include many books from the last century in order to give me additional perspective about the cultures and the words the authors chose to use Comment from : @arthouston7361 |
transcript download is very useful Thanks Comment from : @ymm123 |
In my country getting good books to read can be a little difficult due to the high prices brThat's why I follow Telegram news channels like BBC, WSJ or ABC to readand also learn EnglishbrbrIf you think it could be harmful, try to adjust your screen to make it more comfortable, nowadays smartphones have really useful tools like gray scales, texture-like screen or extra dim feature 👍 brbrAnyway, as long as you read something meaningful and useful I don't see why reading books could be better 🤷♂️ Comment from : @Lruiz3865 |
Mostly İ dont read İ listen :) 😅 Comment from : @35ozgur |

I agree with the idea that reading from a book has more benefits than reading from a screen, but when I read an English book, it is not easy to understand because I need to translate some words, which is easier when I read from a screen🙃🥲 Comment from : @maldossarim2933 |
I really love reading books, but it's too much expensive that's why i read screen 😢 Comment from : @princesskazmi7095 |
My attention span is terrible and I usually read a book on the surface level I rarely read a book for the joy of it, so I have a low range of vocabulary I'm preparing for IELTS exam these days, I have to practice reading section When it comes to reading, I hardly ever get high score because most of the teachers say students should read the passage by skimming, so I read the passages in that way On the mock test, I sometimes made very bad inferences to the questions Thus, different kinds of thoughts pop up in my mind, I'm like a stupid learner or something like that Maybe I have to change my reading technique such as deep reading Comment from : @waiyanoo4922 |
I like digital books specially to read in another language which is cheaper than buying the printed book Another aspect that I would like to highlight is the environmental impact of using paper I rather the electronical device like a tablet o kindle Reading from smartphone may be uncomfortable, but is still anoption than no reading at all Comment from : @juanczg307 |
