I love my Yamaha keyboard It was a great value Why doesn't Yamaha carry this philosophy forward for their drum sets?

"Alesis is never hesitant to send out replacement parts" Oh yes they are I own the DM10 MkII Pro, and after a few months the pads started dying I started emailing support, but never got an answer from them I was surprised because plenty of people have claimed good experiences with Alesis To be fair, this was during Covid, so I expect they had reduced staffing, but through my whole warranty period, the only response I ever got from Alesis was an automated email advising me that in case my inquiries had so far been unanswered (as was indeed the case), that I should re-submit my claim in a response to THAT email, which I promptly did However, I never got another response /answer/anything from the company (Yes, I checked my junk/spam folders, etc) So now I have a nice-looking kit folded up in the corner of my living room with four dead pads, (oh, AND now that I think of it, one of the cymbals was going intermittent as well), and all I can really do with it might be to sell the remaining good parts on Ebay, but it sickens me to even look at it I really REALLY wanted to upgrade to the Strike Pro SE someday, but now I can't imagine owning anything from Alesis

k00k
Does this list change if you plan on only using the module as a computer interface to use VSTs? Might be a cool video, I’d love a video like, “Best kits under $2000 for VST use”
Comment from : k00k

slavish superiority
The rapid progress of processor chips, ram memory, and the software-based audio sampling technology are the main reasons for the birth of other e-drum brands besides Roland and Yamaha They rely on China's cheap industrial production capacity + European audio technology This situation will soon stop as China closes its external ties Roland and Yamaha are the giants of the modern music industry, and ATV is Roland's original team, this three are a generation ahead of the other brands In the next ten years, other brands will disappear

AnthonyE30
Quick question for you as I can't seem to find that comparison anywherebrI play mostly rock, prog and some metal (think Rush, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden), and I have played actively for 15 years, and on and off for another 8 on top of that due to housing constraints Up here in Canada, I can get a brand new Strike Pro or a TD-20 for the same price (most of the ones I see don't have the expansion board) What would be your take on that, especially as far as sounds go, machine-gunning and overall hi-hat feel? I played a TD-50 next to the Alesis and obviously the latter was no matchbrbrSo far, the biggest thing for the TD-20 is cosm modelling and vexpressions, but the Alesis is over a decade newer Last time I played a Roland from that era was my TD-12 back in 2012brbrCheers!
Comment from : AnthonyE30

Tad Jodelson
Just a kind correction, if I may (Since the time of this video, the set could have changed) but as far as I know the KVX comes with a 10" hi hat and not the 12" as you mentioned
Comment from : Tad Jodelson

Alesis is the worst kit I've ever owned strike pro se is a piece of shit Took it back got a TD27KVS and omg like going from a fisher price toy to a Ferrari
Comment from : Jason

cardinaldriver
Obviously Roland hasn't figured out that the spur lift on their BD tower is detrimental to quick doubles It literally bleeds energy from the kick Expected more from Roland

I just wanted to say I appreciate all your informative videosbrbrI have a drum set that is a combination of a roland TD 17 KVX and a Drumtec five piece shellsbrbrI also have a couple of ATV cymbals and 2 12 in roland tomsbrbrThe reason I am telling you all this is because I only have the TV 17 module that came with the RolandbrbrI want to order the alesis drum module and combine the two to accommodate extra triggers that I havebrbrThe problem is, I didn’t realize when I bought the drum tec Tom‘s , the Drumtec Tom’s are not compatible with alesis modulesbrbrI saw a video one time of yours where you combine two different drum modules into one, or at least that’s how I understood itbrbrI also have superior drummer three download it on my laptopbrbrMy question is, is there a way to route my drum tech triggers in some fashion to where they could be ran to the alesis module and be recognizedbrbrOne of the reasons I like the Alesis drum module is you can record yourself easily and it is very user-friendlybrbrI am also a guitar player and I would like to be able to lay down a drum track on the alesis for playbackbrbrIf I can’t find someway for Mý alesis to recognize the drum tec tom‘s it is probably not the module for mebrbrI was just trying to avoid spending $3000 on a rolland to 50 XbrbrWill a mixing board accomplish this?brbrOnce again I would like to say that you are of great credit to the drum communitybrbrKeep on rocking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DonaldGerbino
Roland all the way ,I played an alessis at a music store came back to try it again and the snare trigger was broken ,ive played the Roland kits and never found a broken trigger ,Roland has almost no latency and they just feel great ,ive had a td 17kvx and it's solid reliable and extremely customizable, you may give up some options but what good are those options if your kit isn't working ??
Comment from : DonaldGerbino

BEREAN GIRL
Hi Justin, I received my PDX-12 snare about a month ago and just noticed that the mesh head is a Roland head This head seems to have a bit of a mushy rebound compared to the PDX-8 snare that has the Roland/Remo mesh head Have you noticed any difference in rebound/bounce feel with the PDX-12"? Thanks Love your video's Sarah"❤
Comment from : BEREAN GIRL

Soularpower
Looking to get into drumming after putting it off for a decade this is about my budget Love your channel, thanks for the video

I have PDX-12 snare and Im looking to upgrade but im wondering if its worth it Is the Roland PDA100L or Roland PD-128S that much better?
Comment from : John Vilardi

H S
I didn't catch which of these is the best one 65Drum Dude, if you had to pick one, what would you recommend? Was the Roland your favorite or did you just get it because you had a good deal?
Comment from : H S

Brandon Drake
Dude Someone needs to go ask every single Edrum maker, “how many kits have you played where the floor Tom is smaller than the snare?” My biggest complaint with all of these kits and most e-kits in general At LEAST make the floor Tom pad AS big as the snare Plz Plz plz 😅
Comment from : Brandon Drake

Jose Gonzalez
You should review the Millenium MPS-850 E-Drum Set It is very affordable considering all of its specs, and I would be interested in seeing what you think about it
Comment from : Jose Gonzalez

Darrin Nunyah
I played Roland and Yamaha for 25 years, and finally tried the Alesis Strike when it came out Within 3 mos, my crashcrashed and I had to replace my kick soon after, due to a piezo failure Finally, I upgraded a smaller tom with the exact same model of tom already on the kit, but I could never get it to have the same attack and projection regardless of settings, which suggests either a different quality of piezo, a different internal configuration or inconsistent quality of assembly Believe me, I have no allegiance to Roland, and some of their entries are pretty uninspired(bland), but I never had a Roland pad failure in two decades across 3 different kits I finally sold my Strike in favor of a new TD-17KVX and although the sounds are more limited, the overall Roland quality is there, and customizing sounds is a bit more intuitive and direct However, for the price, Alesis gives you much for your money, and the aesthetics are more 'drumlike' than is the Roland if Alesis can upgrade their quality on the mid-range kits, I think they can really give Roland a run for its money Maybe it will be a different story in 5 years Others have had great results with their Alesis kits, so take my story as anecdotal It just wasnt for me

The Strike Pro costs over AU$3,000 here in AustraliabrI bought a Crimson II SE for about AU$1,899 almost a year ago & love the feel of the Drum Mesh Heads compared to my Alesis DM-5 Pro I've had for years which has the "Real Head" Drums Mesh Heads are MUCH quieter to play & have much nicer bounce for double-stroke drum rollsbrHowever, I do feel the Cymbals, especially the Hi-Hat, leave a lot to be desiredbrI have heard (read in online Forums) that you can upgrade the Hats to the Yamaha 1's that are better to use with the Alesis kits - are you able to confirm this for us please?brAs in, if I were to buy Yamaha Hats to put on a Pearl Hi Hat Stand (I have both a Pearl & a Dolphin Acoustic Kits also, so) as opposed to upgrading to the Alesis X-Hats & stand, would it be a more accurate to the real thing setup?brI like that the Yamaha Cymbals are larger & all Triple Zone, though, are all 3 Zones well-placed & work well?brI have found with my Alesis Crimson Ride, which is Triple Zone, the Bell can be very finicky - it either works as a Bell when struck, or not, & I as often as not, am likely to get the Ride Bow sound instead Quite annoying, I must say Especially for an almost AU$2K outlay 2 Grand ain't cheap for an unemployed person trying to setup their own Home Studio 😂brbrI use Toontrack EZD2 with their MetalHeads expansion for my sounds, & go through my Steinberg UR44 Interface using a 5-Pin MIDI Cable as I want to keep my remaining PC USB Ports available, & my UR44 doesn't have USB MIDI In, only 5-Pin In & Out/Thru LOLbrIt all still works just fine though, sobrI use Reaper as my DAW of choice also Great DAW for the low price, I must saybrI am very impressed with ReaperbrbrThanks for the 😎 e-kit videos mate

Can you possibly do something about the VAD 506 I just got? It’s the says 27 and I’m totally living it although I’m struggling with figuring out why it won’t connect with my desktop (Mac) and cannot download the software at all No matter how many tries it just won’t connect with it Do other people have this issue? And overall what’s your opinion of the module? Thanks so much
Comment from : Brian’s Steezy channel

RADER FPV
I'm torn between getting the td-17kvx now, or saving up a bit longer to get the td-27kv As a novice drummer, common sense would say just get the td-17, but I sure like the extra features (compressor, 28 track output) of the 27 that I think I'd be able to grow with more down the road If anyone's tried them both, what do you think? Thank you

Where you able to get roland to fix or replace the high hat?
Comment from : Andrew Miller

DevinTheGreig
Would you recommend the VAD306 over the Strike Pro SE? I got the VAD two days ago and I’m pretty underwhelmed overall, the small cymbals feel odd and have actually been giving me a lot of triggering issues I’m mainly looking for a good feeling midi controller more than a great stand alone e-kit
Comment from : DevinTheGreig

Seb Joe
I NEED HELP ✅✅😂 but I just saw the alesis crimson ll Se for $600 brand new or should I buy a Roland TD-07 for like $800 all I just want is GOOD sound but a large kit ( IM PLANNING TO BUY A KIT IN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS)

HAY Have you tried filling you drums with loose cotton in your converted kit to dampen the shell ????? I've done this to my mapex kit and regular drum heads saying that I don't really care about my neighbours also have you tried the Magadrum module brCheers from Ireland 👍
Comment from : TheStudio49

oboreal69
Hello Justin For me, your comparaison is biased for one main reason : No one can buy the Alesis Strike at this day and since 6 months If the basic version of thé Strike as to come back, it will probably be with some improvements including the new hit hat and the reinforced pads of the SE
Comment from : oboreal69

Steve Mutter
Can you add more kits to the Td-17 module? I don’t mind paying to add kits just wounded if it is possible
Comment from : Steve Mutter

Bigsquatch Sasfoot
I couldn’t get over how ridiculously small the Yamaha toms were there is no way in hell I consider buying it it looks like a kids toy and far to small for a grown up lol , I play an old Roland td20 with various other brains connected but I do like the Alesis at least it feels somewhat more like a drum kit should and looks nice 👍
Comment from : Bigsquatch Sasfoot

Guy
Hi Justin, brbrBig fan of your 65 drums channel I recently got a TD 27, which has a USB out port My question is: do you think it is necessary to purchase a dedicated audio interface to trigger a VST from my TD27? Or is the USB out sufficient to get low latency and good responsiveness?brbrThank you
Comment from : Guy

Chris Cobb Drummer
I bought an Alesis Command x kit one year ago,it was my first E Kit,,got it home and feels great except, kick drum trigger has failed four times and snare trigger has failed twice, dont even use it for gigging, could someone please tell me if this is normal for E Drums?
Comment from : Chris Cobb Drummer

Richard Penrose
Hi Is it possible to play snare center, rimshot and cross stick on the Alesis Strike (like DTX) or do you need to load a different patch for this? Also, do you have a link to the latest free Alesis kit samples that you mention?
Comment from : Richard Penrose

kira&gina
I was ready to buy the Alesis Surge Mesh, when I found a TD-17KV and Simmons DA-50 drum amp for $600 and a five hour round trip Craigslist is your friend This newb loves your channel, Justin

There is a module called fame hybrid pro which sounds really good, you can import samples, direct outs, metal enclosure etc You might wanna take a look at this Its cheap too Im thinking of selling my recently bought td-17 module to get this one instead but i would like your review on it first

Comment from : Drum Flip

Baptiste Soury
Hi Justin, big fan of yours, thanks for the awesome videos!brI am currently looking for a drum set in this price range, but was leaning towards the atv exs-5 (slightly more expensive, but I found a bundle at 2050€) Any reason why you didn't include it in the video ? 3 sets is enough, price range ?
Comment from : Baptiste Soury

BK Burg
Hey Justin! Will I get the best of both worlds if I swap the module of my TD17KVX with a Strike module?
Comment from : BK Burg

Ely Jennis
So I just spent the whole week working with the Alesis Strike Editor and they updated the firmware so you can ignore the 200MB kit size limit I used Lustark SDSE and Reaper and exported all 7 stock kits FULL 24bit from Superior drummer 3 each kit is 1-25GB and takes about 15 seconds to load, but you can get the full resolution samples with no cutoff or downsampling It sounds so so real, absolutely convincing to the highest professional standards It's really insane, and incomparable to 16bit samples when played side by side It's really worth knowing that you can do this, you can really ignore the kit size limit and go HAM with anything you want!
Comment from : Ely Jennis

CradleOfFred
I was stunned by the DTX module, it just sound great! And I love their pads, closer I think to a real drumhead

Longsnapper 53
I went with the Alesis Strike(coming next Thursday) First off, I'm a bass player but it's my band and I get what I want The drum module alone on the Alesis kit sold me for the ability to run each output of the kit into our digital mixer so we have ultimate control of our mix 1800 sounds? Jesus, how many do you need? The large size of the snare appealed to our drummer I've heard this kit played 20 times and I think we'll be able to get by with the sounds even though drum aficionados aren't enthralled We can always add a crash or the Roland hi hat if the Alesis one is really that bad I love the look of the kit for putting it on stage though we may adapt a 23 inch red sparkle kick for performancesJustin, you are a treasure man Thanks for all the info
Comment from : Longsnapper 53

Popcorn 82
So, question about the Roland module, you can import samples, I remember a video of Sirendrums, or what his studio username is now, importing vst samples into the strike module, would you be able to do the same thing with the Roland module??
