I'm in Australia I collect one of each every year just for myself as the premiums are abhorrent for a 999 fine coin But I wish I would have got a few more of the Type 1 Eagle when they changed the design I only got one But as a general rule, our Australian coins sell for heaps more on the secondary market than old Eagles do

ASE's are expensive because people buy them Who buys them? Go to a gun show and you will see tons of people carting out boat loads of ammo at 5 to 6X what they could get it for down the street There are LOADS of ill-informed people with a bunch of cash DON'T discount their part on the ASE market Otherwise ASE would be selling for a couple of bucks over spot, just the way they were sold in the past But I wouldn't expect any relief until these people run out of money As the great BT Barnum once said, "There is a sucker born every day"

Type 1 is the only true American silver eagle Type 2 is just an ugly over price American silver round and it kills me every year that I have to buy one just to keep the set updated But hey, that’s just my opinion 👍

I have no idea why this should be the most popular bullion coin in the world, the Canadian Maple is made of finer silver and has a $5 face value instead of $1 and currently does not have additional $10-$14 premiums attached to it so it looks to tick more boxes to me
