You need jewelry cleaning solutionfor them to work And it does work but you have to leave them in for quite a long time Comment from : @Goldstacker1972-kp2bh |
As bad shape as all those coins are in I’d be really surprised if any of those clean up nicely I wish they were in a little bit better condition Comment from : @everettwhite9874 |
Maybe you need washing dishes soap or coins soap etc but thanks for showing Comment from : @kamakoa |
Thx for the video Sal I actually had considered buying one of these but after watching this video I’ll pass Thx for saving me a few bucks Comment from : @deanr1963 |
Why would it do better on a ring than something that's dirty? I got a lot of help from the comments of the viewers I'm guessing steam distilled water and a little ammonia is the ticket No one said anything about water, peroxide and vinegar That should clean anything Comment from : @claytonsimplot9554 |
You need to use the ultra sonic cleaning solution for jewelry !!! Comment from : @RickyD1968 |
You put the worst coins possible in this, with substances on them that are outside of what ultra-sonics addresses Why not clean a typical circulated coin that is full of dirt and grime, and that would otherwise be a great coin once the dirt and crud are removed Remember, "cleaning" a coin means damaging it, but removing dirt and crud from a coin (without damaging/altering its surfaces) actually improves a coin, and can add to its long term preservation Comment from : @mlb3135 |
And plastic stop alot the frequency we switch to wire Comment from : @lagomyeggo |
I like the truth about itI used to work in an ultrasonic clean department to clean cnc parts maid of graphite It depends on how strong you are putting out your ultrsonic frequency and using di water, and it might mess the cosmetics of the coin Comment from : @lagomyeggo |
Used a table spoon of ammonia hot water and drop of dawn Comment from : @kevinrivera1492 |
THEY ARE SOLID!!!!!! Comment from : @srryabturdaughter |
Which of these does the least damage to coins? Zest or acetone Thanks Comment from : @barrymaness5814 |
These things are used to clean intricate carburetors to new! A watched pot doesn't boil! Patience Paddywon! Comment from : @robertrettig7110 |
Use warm water and a bit of dawn, leave for awhilego read a book, give it a chance to work! Comment from : @robertrettig7110 |
What if you use this to rinse after the chemical cleaners? Comment from : @ryanhubler16 |
I got a similar one for a first round cleaning of dug Roman coins I also did my glasses Works really well Comment from : @IvanButtkoff |
You should add a few drops of dawn and run a couple times it cleans dirty jewelry in nooks and crannies well Comment from : @truthslayerone264 |
I have been using a ultrasonic cleaner with a 2 molar solution of hydrochloric acid to clean my coins It removes tarnish and makes them bright and shinny again Comment from : @Zealor365 |
It’ll remove the accumulated gunk from eyeglasses nose-pieces, and dirt from watch bands Comment from : @charlestravis9798 |
Is there any way to clean dark buffalo nickels? Comment from : @richardfroste4548 |
These machines only loosen dirt! They don’t clean or remove tape! You have to scrub the coins to get them clean! Comment from : @williamlouis5011 |
That water has to be HOT!! Comment from : @bigjohn387 |
FYI I read that gems in jewelry could be damaged by ulrasonic cleaners For example an inclusion may become a crack Comment from : @particlemanyego |
Need a jewelry cleaner Comment from : @scottcook7136 |
I wus wunderin about my case tumbler, maybe add a few bb's Comment from : @Zeta7-x3q |

awesome,I think I will try this cleaner machine for my old rings Comment from : @钟小凡 |
pffft men dont read instructions Comment from : @Leafbinder |
Former lab guy here I used to use a 50/50 mix of acetone and xylene to clean coworkers rings and stuff Worked shockingly well They were so happy with the change Comment from : @richardoleson7934 |
I use one at work to clean up parts for a Wire EDM machine (CNC machine that uses electrical discharge to spark erode metal, in the process produces tiny chips as recast) as part of routine maintenance Just water, or even a weak surfactant like dawn wouldn't do much I usually add a bit of lime away (a cleaning product with a slight acidic constitution) in the water In my case that works flawlessly for most parts In some cases the recast can be so thick you'll want to chip it off first Something my cleaner has is a heater because you do get better results with warmer water Another warning I'd add to you comment about "doing it a lot of times" the ultrasonic transducer (like a speaker but doesn't speak) can overheat if you use it too much That's one reason why they put a 4 minute timer on it I usually try to give mine a break after half hour of use and hasn't died like an earlier unit I had Comment from : @Pyrolonn |
Could you use acetone for the liquid? Comment from : @AlvinUselton |
I do know 1 person who would use sonic for all his barber quarters and halves He used distilled water and ammonia What he liked was that it would take off "excessive" dirt and grime and leave a vg or fine as a nicer vg or fine without that "cleaned or polished look" Yes he said it had to be done several times as well Comment from : @RobertLee-wi5kc |
Wouldn't distilled water be better? Comment from : @RobertLee-wi5kc |
Yours for sale? Comment from : @mrtrapper93 |
Any chemical that is used to clean coins you don't want get on gem stones This machine is designed to clean dirt off of objects If you had a nice coin with just a small amount grime it would likely remove it; without getting a "cleaned" grading Also, after the first attempt with the tape, why didn't you try and pull it off? The machine might make it easier to get off Here is another thought: buy a special microfiber cloth made for cleaning eyeglasses You can wipe the cion with it without leaving scratches I've used ultrasound to clean dirt off of small stone archaeological finds with success But sometimes you have to do some of the work Comment from : @bobporch |
I use a vibratory tumbler with Shine Brite for my Mercury dimes I make them into pins that I like to include with a tip I also use it for copper pennies I’ve presoaked in salicylic acid My half gallon mason jars of pennies shine Some I lay out in a type cabinet to redden them up I like to experiment with toning and would like to learn more about imbedding them in resin for tiling I’ve used copper nails to fasten copper sheets to divert rainwater and use epoxy to dress the heads with wheaties Yes, I’m a nut Comment from : @martinphilip8998 |
Looks like that gadget is pretty much a fail for coin cleaning Comment from : @iamgabriel5823 |
Could you try this with some ground dug coins? Your videos are very helpful Thanks Comment from : @iamhayes9317 |
Does acetone make it a cleaned coin Comment from : @countrygalweaver6300 |
Those don't work for crap for metal detecting finds either The chemical reactions in the dirt are worse than being exposed to the air due to iron content, lawn fertilizer etc Comment from : @sixystyle |
Took an ANA grading class at one of the Long Beach coins shows The NGC teacher suggested Parsons Ammonia for cleaning dirt from silver I sometimes use it on my coins with gunk built up in the legends It does work but takes about half to an hour of run time I also put the coins in the holders from cracked open slabs This prevents the coins from vibrating on the hard plastic basket Great for jewelry; gets the hand lotion crap that my wife uses Dawn or the Parsons Ammonia are the two 'chemicals' I use in the ultrasonic Comment from : @johnfriend240 |
It's a coin massager 😂 Comment from : @TheSteveBoyd |
THANKS for testing this Comment from : @allanfifield8256 |
Kinda reminds me of my foot bath/ massagermaybe I should throw a couple nickels in there next time😂😂😂 Comment from : @jp27whodey31 |
There great to clean glasses just a drop of dawn Comment from : @TheWardog1701 |
try Isoproply Alcohol Above 90 it works great leave it in for 30-45 minutes Comment from : @andrewbirdsong6966 |
We use ultrasonic cleaners in the hospital But, our units are much stronger We clean heavily soiled stainless steel surgical instruments They are cleaned very nicely by the units we use Much bigger and much stronger Comment from : @macarioacosta7767 |
I use my ultrasonic cleaner to clean 90 constitutional silver Those are not intended to be anything other than silver content and potential barter coins for me However if you buy them in bulk, you get the "been in a pocket" smell that is unique to used coins A little dawn in warm water in the ultrasonic and let them dry on a towel No more smell and tube them up for storage Comment from : @davidward1259 |
I never use tap water, as the chlorine will tone the coins Best to use distilled water Comment from : @vernowen2083 |
Seems to me you could fill the cleaner with acetone or some safe coin dip (I have heard of a few that might be safe) Shouldn't be a problem reclaiming the left over liquid filtered through a coffee filter of similar Comment from : @antoniolen-rios8482 |
The dude 😎 Comment from : @DustanThedell-xk1zn |
Not for me I like the history! Cleaning erases that Comment from : @scotthansen9081 |
I have a feeling the difference between cleanings is the metal the coins are made of compared to the jewelry Have you tried using the Sonic Cleaner on any gold coins? Dawn is a good detergent, but the Sonic Cleaner may need a more thorough cleaner As far as the coins you used the Sonic Cleaner on, the Sonic Cleaner won't remove corrosion, rust or other adherents to the coins, such as glue residue or paint Comment from : @alberthanson1971 |
Cheap ultrasonic cleaners provide you little benefit due the frequency A lab cleaner is designed to do the job! You get what you pay for with such devices and forget made in china Comment from : @joewebster903 |
I have often wondered what a sonic cleaner would do for coins as you demonstrated not much difference in the coins but I do think the ring was a lot better Comment from : @cweedcoins1640 |
That's a cheaply built sonic cleaner With that said, I wouldn't use it for coins I'd use it for cleaning guns but not coins Comment from : @troytheman666 |
I always use mine for jewelry only Dawn is my go to for most things, just not coinsbrNever thought to put coins in it Another good video, thanks Daniel Comment from : @ShirlBussman |
Sonic cleaners work great for cleaning imbedded debris the machine they sent you sucks a real sonic cleaner is much quieter and runs in 1-12hr intervals not minutes that machine just seems like a hassle Comment from : @TheShmeebitdog |
Instead of water, put acetone in bath Comment from : @johnhenderson9817 |
I use an ultrasound cleaner for my dime box coins - just to get the crud off In addition i use some hand soap to get dirt off It will not remove toning or oxidation Need to be careful in drying coins especially copper as they will tone if you rub them too much Comment from : @perschenck6216 |
I have an 1887-O Morgan silver dollar that looks to have been silver-plated while it was in a belt buckle It looks awful and I’d like to remove the diver plating How do you remove silver plate from a coin? It’s driving me a little crazy Comment from : @tjanderson575 |
Read the instructions again 🤣 Comment from : @murlbailer3755 |
I bought one and have never used it Mine is battery operated No basket Don’t know how well it will work? 😮 Comment from : @murlbailer3755 |
Ultrasonic cleaners are great for jewelry You should just need 1 cycle to clean something But what it is that you are cleaning is oils and dirt Not corrosion, environmental damage Put 4-5 well worn tennis bracelets with all their cracks and crevices in there and that water will be quite dirty Comment from : @michaeldenison7339 |
You’d have to use a solvent to break down the adhesive on the tape 🤦 Comment from : @cincyjohn69 |
It was great talking to you GO STEELERS!😅 Comment from : @danieldevite668 |
When I used to work at a pawn shop will you put lemon pneumonia clean over gold jewelry it came out looking new Comment from : @PaulSmith-uu9cf |
It was worth a try! Would probably be great for extremely delicate cleaning purposes And definitely for jewelry and similar items Thanks for sharing Daniel Hope you have a great day as well! 😎👍👍 Comment from : @phillipthiebjord |
Those cleaning machines work well but sometimes on some coins you have to clean them a lot longer than normal!! Comment from : @zebcherry |
Try some car wash powdered soap in it as it works well on coins anyway turns black coins lighter wo removing patina entirely like ezest does ❤ Comment from : @dondesnoo1771 |
This item will burn up and die in less than a year It is only designed to clean jewelry once in a while I recommend putting more dawn in like fill the circle inside with Dawn and hot water Stir the solution so the Dawn is fully dissolved and you will get better results It will tone stain Peace dollars and 1921 Morgans badly so I would never recommend putting silver dollars in this device Very nice item for cleaning your ring or even your glasses Coins not so much Comment from : @chaicharin |
Try acitone 50 and waterand maybe send one to PCGS to see what they grade???? Comment from : @markkaidy8741 |
I tried my water flosser on some junk Roman coins from Amazon Didn’t help either Comment from : @jimk2099 |
Coins no Jewelry YES! Thanks for the video Comment from : @darbysdownhomedetecting |
Try hot water and a little vinegar Comment from : @horkneeoldman |
you need more soap Comment from : @dank6905 |
Ultrasonic cleaners are very useful For example for teeth cleaning, the dentist uses a handheld ultrasonic descaler instrument to vibrate off accumulated tartar which is hardened plaque that has encrusted onto teeth A stream of water is also used to flush away the debris Comment from : @jadenephrite |
put more soap inbrthey work really good if you use it right Comment from : @dank6905 |
So odd!! I just watched a video yday of a guy using a ultra sonic cleaner and it made no difference in his coins Comment from : @945hilo |
its very clear that one coin is on indianhead nickel Comment from : @dank6905 |
I'll bet the manufacturer isn't going to be real happy with your review But I thank you for being honest and fair 👍 Comment from : @scotts1356 |
Needs a little more ultra! Comment from : @ronmueller1164 |
I've heard about ultrasonic cleaners brAt least we know it will get your coins completely wet, and that's a pretty big change considering they were dry before treating them with the ultrasonic machine 😊😅😂brSeriously though, it was interesting Thank you for taking the time to share this with us 👏👍 Comment from : @lindanelson8400 |
✳️ thanks again for your show 🌻 Good Morning 🌄 and have a great day ✳️ Comment from : @JohnnyCollins-cv4gx |
These machines are good for shaking off dirt and grime typically transfered from skin to jewellery They don't fix toning, glue or cemented dirt You also have to use warm to hot water and leave them shaking for at least 30 mins Comment from : @fatheadcat9958 |
