Many here say they loved the half crown It was my favourite coin when I was a lad in the 1960’s It was the highest value coin in common use (Crowns weren’t an everyday coin) On my birthdays, my aunts and uncles gave me cash and I’d usually end up with at least 4 half crowns Fish ‘n’ chips was only 1/3 (1 shilling & threepence) and my favourite comics were 3 (threepence) at that time, so I felt rich One day in 1965 my mum let me look through her purse and I found an almost uncirculated 1945 half crown and she gave me it 60 years on I still enjoy looking at it One of the most satisfying coins of all time

At least one half-crown has been minted following decimalisation It was issued in 2023, for Gibraltar It was issued at £250 to tie in with the current crowns, which are issued at £500 It might be useful to have the half-crown again, as it would be useful for making up five pounds in coins

King George VI ceased to be Emperor of India in 1947 when India gained independence However, IND:IMP remained on the coins until 1949, I'm not sure why Maybe because the dies had already been produced? In any case the coin albums reflect the fact that he ceased to be Emperor in 1947

Like the half crowns but there are not my favourite pre decimal coin that must be the full crown, I know it was not used in circulation so i guess my favourite must be the 3 pence Love the 1817 half crown, the oldest pre decimal coin I have is a half penny from 1860 The Edward half crown is nice as well

if you are interested in silver and british coins a half crown from 20 to 46 will have 50 silver right now 2 10 22 55p per gram therefore at least just for the silver alone £385 eachbrsilver is very undervalued at the moment and it cant be printed infinitlybrmy dad used to call them half a dollar as in his times there were 4 dollars to the pound and 8 halfcrowns to the poundbrwow its a bit different now

The Queen Elizabeth II half crowns have one of the best-designed reverses - it's a shame there was no sterling silver version, not even in proof form, only cupro-nickel

Hi, I just received an 1807 slave trade £2 coin from 2007 with a mint error, the dots around the queen's head stop halfway around the circle, so the middle silver part is off-centred The writing around the side of the coin is also upside down if you hold the queen face-up I'm not sure about the value, could you tell me?
