Overall good tips but why pre-1945? Pre 64 halves, quarters, and dimes are silver pre-58 cents are wheat Pennies and silver nickels are 1942-1945 so why do you say 45 and earlier are more valuable?

I have been collecting coins since 1973 I have tried what you suggested a few times and never found any coin of value Yes, I have secured a lot of valuable coins over the years but those came from my father's hoard of pennies and simply checking my change I think the "go to the bank" method is a waste of time If I had a lot of time to blow, I would look on ebay I also found several coins from relatives selling their dead relative's assets and the seller was not aware of the coin's value, but once again, this takes a lot of time
