Hello again, Mr Wes I like your videos and your style of teaching, without any doubt However, any knowledge requires to be refreshed from time to time; this is why I am here again br"Repetitio est mater studiorum", as wise Romans said Have a nice weekend, all of you under your roof Comment from : @slowlearner4341 |
Thank you for such a valuable lesson on idioms I really like the way you CUT TO THE CHASE Now that I've learned those I'm ON CLOUD NINE In fact, there is no CUTTING CORNERS when it comes to learning a language I first CUT MY TEETH on idioms when I was 18 and after a few years struggling to learn most of them, I was AT MY WITS' END But we need to GIVE OURSELVES SOME SLACK for not knowing many of the idioms because there are just too many Learning a language is a painstaking process You can't just FLY BY THE SEAT OF YOUR PANTS because you can GET THE WRONG END OF THE STICK Learning idioms are fun and we should always GIVE IT A WHIRL If you can't seem to improve your English like me, just GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD and HIT THE BOOKS Does it RING ANY BELLS? Please TAKE MY COMMENT WITH A PINCH OF SALT Just being silly here 😅 Comment from : @DonnieChoi |

Wes, what do you think about this lyrics sentence "See you AT the bitter end" (Placebo's song, "The Bitter End")? Have you met it in real life? Is there a change of the symbolic meaning or is it more literal and rather created for song purposes? Can we use BITTER END with "at", too? :) Comment from : @langsandbella |
Question: When someone says "I'm sure" does that imply 100 certainty?brEx 1: Bob: Turn left at the stop signbr Tom: Are you sure its left?br Bob: I'm sure its a left turnbrbrEx 2: Jim: Should I be worried about this injury?br Rob (not a medical professional): I'm sure you will be finebrbrWhen people say "I'm sure" how really sure are they? Is there room for error? Is there a difference between sure vs certain?brbrThanks! Comment from : @jayblue673 |
“The easy way out” is generally a very negative phrase It’s associated with not wanting to give effort It’s also associated with achieving an outcome based on how easy it is rather than whether or not is the best option It’s generally seen as cowardly Comment from : @regalcartoon5932 |
