H&M’ s recycling was found to not be true!!! It has been tasted if clothes that and up in one of the bins at H&M really make it to a recycling facility witch never happened!!! This was tested at a H&M in Sweden They found out via tracker’s that where put with the clothes, that the clothes made it around the world but never anded up in a recycling facility!!!
Comment from : Badomensgirl

Mae G
it’s too much hassle I rather not buy and wait till they breakdown

The solution for this problem is STOP buying so much clothesbrAmerican society consuming habits for fast clothing that endures one season hurts the environment People don't need this much clothes in their closet

Vow to not buy new unlwss absolutely necessary Many people are now starting to delude themselves into thinking they can buy whatever they want now because they'll just donate the rest
Comment from : ThereSaSpiderNMySoup

Camelotsmoon
80 pounds of clothes?? What is the average income of the people in the surveys for that "statistic" lol I don't even think I could say I went through that much clothing since I was a child And the only reason there was because I was growing
Comment from : Camelotsmoon

Vervídeos giros
Before creating a recycleindset, what about creating a non-shallow mindset and just buy the clothing you need?!
Comment from : Vervídeos giros

Vervídeos giros
Why is she badmouthing european clothes like Zara when there's so many disgusting american labels producing 100 plastic clothes?! I have a lot of clothes from Zara and after 20 years they are proper for use!
Comment from : Vervídeos giros

Vervídeos giros
How shallow can people be?! She only put it for selling if the clothes are "stylish" (whatever she means by that)?!
Comment from : Vervídeos giros

Jennifer Penny
Ok sounds awesome, but what do you do with your clothes that get worn out? Like most curvaceous ladies, the chub rub ( i like calling it chub love) can run through some pants (expensive or not) faster than a olive garden goes through cheese
Comment from : Jennifer Penny

Caroline Mmabatho
I dont know how is reselling an answer Reselling doesn't remove the clothes off the face of the earth, but just your face I am in Africa, and I'm sick and tired of Americans thinking they're doing something by donating(Dumping) their junk in poor countries/continents like Africa The question is what do I do with your worn clothes after wearing them for a while?
Comment from : Caroline Mmabatho

Renatabk
Instead of doing it, give it away to people who need or to organizations to send to poor countries
Comment from : Renatabk

HotSliceASMR
H&M, for example, produces three billion garments a year and recycles only about 10 percent of that - the rest is sent to places like Accra, the capital of Ghana, where piles of second-hand clothes create scenes that look like some post-apocalyptic scenario
Comment from : HotSliceASMR

rebecca streadwick
Old cotton jeans can be used under mulch
Comment from : rebecca streadwick

rebecca streadwick
If you donate to a thrift store or one of those little boxes on the corners, what doesnt get sold gets shipped to place like Africa where it has become a huge problem and is contaminating the soil, like there are mountains of clothes
Comment from : rebecca streadwick

Dadya Russki

It’s gotten incredibly difficult to resell clothes online, not worth photoing, measuring, writing up the ad or auction People are very cheap Maybe the power sellers can make it worthwhile

Comment from : Hamzat Mukhtar

i started learning about clothing donation and what it does to communities from the OR foundation, which is an NGO in Accra, Ghana i had no idea before that! i've been trying to be crafty with my unwanted clothing instead of donating it we really do have a huge part in helping other places in the world stay clean!
Comment from : Joel Miller

Sadly, this is a breakthrough to one country while on the other hand recycling the second hand clothings to some countries is a burden Why? Most of these second hand clothings upon arrival are unwearable Millions of tonnes ends up in landfills Turning most countries into a dumping site for textiles waste 😔
Comment from : Clean Cooking Technology, Gh

Another way to get reduce waste is to buy clothes only made from natural materials (wool, cotton, Linen, silk etc) buying Faux leather, spandex and Polyester clothes are essentially made from plastic and do not break down

Helen Bakewell
Well you need to use materials to use materials to revalue fashions of your fashions and can reuse as new fashions to resale back creativity with the materials
Comment from : Helen Bakewell

E Catalan
Not for nothing, but what you describe as a thrift store really shouldn't be called a thrift store These are "for profit" resale shops Thrift stores are donation sites that give free or very low cost clothes to the disadvantaged Thrift stores are few and far between in my area, and it was upsetting when I went to a "thrift store" traveling there by train only to find that their prices were not that much below retail I had lost a lot of things in the IDA Flood and was looking for an actual "Thrift Store" to help me replace needed clothes and other items I lost But this was a for profit organization It really should not have "Thrift Store" in the business name, but resale instead Resale and Thrift should not be used interchangeably Just my ranty 2 cents :o)
Comment from : E Catalan

Sewing Memories
This is why I show others how to upcycle their clothes into reusable gifts

why not to trend simplicity so that people wont judge others from clothngs
Comment from : Abdul Haadi

Patti Raithel
Some of these stores are realizing the clothes they they sell are really only going to last a short while and they try to make themselves feel good by recycling a tiny portion There is a document showing all these textiles in huge piles on fire in other countries We all need to quit buying more than we need
Comment from : Patti Raithel

zulema sanchez
Can you say goodwill donations
Comment from : zulema sanchez

Pam England
Yet we are told that taking clothes to a place like Goodwill means all the stuff that isn’t bought goes to other Countries & ends up hurting those Countries due to the clothing gluttony in the US brMore clothes are still produced on the daily! Check dumpsters behind stores that carry any type of garments🤷🏼‍♀️ Sad
Comment from : Pam England

Leighanne Boles

By the time I am ready to discard a clothing item, it is so worn out that it is not re-usable I buy only cotton clothing, which is getting harder to find at the local thrift stores Is there a way to recycle cotton

Comment from : Emily

Anione
Great video Keep making such videos to increase awareness However, I feel the key to solving a problem should be to not create the problem in the first place It's really sad to see the manifold impact of consumerism One thing the video does not touch upon is what the various mega clothing stores do with the tons of unsold fast fashion clothing or what stores do with clothes that are returned by customers, another big problem in the developed countries? 8:23 Appreciate this initiative by Amazon
Comment from : Anione

Cari Waldick
Until those making the profits from fast fashion and textiles have to pay toward the disposal of the clothes, this is going to continue to be a problem Forcing them to pay it forward, will raise their prices, and slow the industry down Go a step further, and try to get wages raised where the clothes are made, and again increase the prices When the top selling for ten dollars increases to twenty, fewer will be sold, they'll be valued more, and less waste will be created Quality over quantity
Comment from : Cari Waldick

Krystyna Henrikson
I think that the big part of the problem that most of the people don't know how to sew anymore If you know, you can adjust your old clothes in good condition to fit you better I see my old clothes as cloth I made myself nice vest from my mothers in law skirt I made few dresses from my skirts by connecting them to some nice but too short Tshirts I make tote bags from old curtains /I just sold 3 of them on a lokal market recently/ A lady I know makes nice hats and gloves from old sweters There are so many possibilities
Comment from : Krystyna Henrikson

Joan Bischoff
Well the most obvious solution is not even mentioned- stop buying new clothes! I live in a smallish city in Michigan and there are more than three large 2nd-hand stores here plus also smaller private retail establishments Without even realizing it, I transitioned to buying ONLY used clothing - I tell my friends I “rent” clothes because when I’m done with the garments, I donate them right back to the same stores I don’t pay much attention to trends but wear what fits well & is comfortable - but there is much relevant clothing discarded by those who change clothes with the seasons It’s fun! I learned to sew during covid and made masks with used fabric and supplies It’s fun & it feels good to do this small thing
