Gerber does a other one its bigger but still flip out one called the Gerber edge Comment from : @newzealandprepper9278 |
not mundane!!! blades blades blades!! hahhaaha major knife nerds assemble Comment from : @timcourage |
got one of these @ Wal-Mart a couple years back, there's a newer version now I don't carry mine much as a 3 blade stockman pocket knife serves my tasks better This is good & compact to store in a small Maxpediton type pack Comment from : @williamyoung369 |
great findthis is exactly what I was looking for Comment from : @reidsmith5895 |
How about the extended cutting edge??? That's a huge advantage not mentioned in this video Comment from : @chadmoser8109 |
Is no one going to mention how it's so difficult to close? Comment from : @flintz00 |
The new retaining screws are made so a penny can be used to change the blade I bought my EAB so I don't have to ruin my Manix 2 cutting cardboard at work Comment from : @Lex5576 |
could have learned everything i needed to know about the knife i under a minute, at least on youtube i could speed through all the useless parts and the talking down to me like I'm in 5th grade Comment from : @markstraeter |
I'll stick with the old tried and true Stanley! Zippo is still the top of the line and so is Stanley Besides it fits my everything just right Has extra blades, has the grip, You can't cut boxes all day long with that pretty little toy Comment from : @kerrylyons9667 |
In my opinion, this is a bad design because of the difficulty of changing the blade and the lack of on board blade storage People who use these cutters a lot know that the two main complains about cutters are what I just mentioned I have used tons of these cutters over the years trying to find the best one and so far, I would say the Milwaukee fast back 2, not the first one, is the best so far The fastback 1 lacked blade storage but the 2 has blade storage Unfortunately the 2 can only store one extra blade Comment from : @lineartechbd1600 |
How have I not seen this review in years? Thanks Nutn! Comment from : @MrPipeter |
flip was here! I've had one of these for a long time- resides in my FANNY PACK… yeah, deal with it I agree the thumb stud is a good idea, but disagree that it should be anything BUT a slot head I might not have a hex on me in the field, but I will have something flat to get the screw out and turn the blade around Best lightweight, lo-pro utility knife available After all these years, I think I will go get another one Nutn review strikes again! Comment from : @daddyflip8584 |
Terrible design, one slip and your finger will easily slide onto the blade Comment from : @brianchris4 |
AGREED, it's terrible Comment from : @ITSONLYMEWATCHING |
I own a very fine Gerber folding lock-blade knife that I've carried everyday for ten years, it's still solid in every regard and keeps an edge very well Because my Gerber has been such a good knife I'll purchase one of these soon Comment from : @edwaggonersr7446 |
You should just get a Milwaukee utility knife br Comment from : @Wocadile |
I would think it would more efficient of a knife if it were a little longer It looks too small for my big hands Comment from : @dougconley |
Try cutting shingles for 8-10 hours a day with a knife that small and having to change blades 4-5 times a day without a quick release uses up to much time Comment from : @v1k1ngs79 |
I read that these were recalled due to the blade coming out the back & cutting peoples hands Comment from : @thedreamsoldiers |
I have a Milwaukee fastback, it works great and I use it all day on carpet drywall and other things my favorite by far Comment from : @skeletonpenis |
Try serrated blades they last longer ime Comment from : @viciousKev |
Dude, a slot screw can be opened with almost anything in arms reach, searching for the right hex screw would be retarded Comment from : @clancy6969 |
Why didn't they include a hole for lanyard or keychain? Comment from : @Jhovan33 |
is it me or do the irwin bimetal blades come fairly dull ? Comment from : @bibletopicdebates |
they made that screw so you can use a penny to take it out Comment from : @bibletopicdebates |
I've been carrying an EAB for years I call it my "fearless" knife It's fearless because unlike my more expensive blades - I'm not afraid to completely destroy the blade It's so small, I can afford to carry it all the time - even on airplanes (blade removed)
I've given them as gifts, and own 5 of them myself - just in case I lose one At $10, you can't lose BTW, I use Irwin bi-metal blades in mine too Comment from : @stutteringp0et |
Milwaukee utility knife All day long Comment from : @Wocadile |
Nice, but not good for someone who has to use it all day long No way i'd want to open and close it for every use: which is something people do all day long in an industrial job Comment from : @tblends |
go for the craftsman auto load slider picking mine up tomorrow Comment from : @brickfollett |
That Gerber is junk I broke 1 in about a month get the Dewalt folder about $20 at Home Depot works great edc mine every day for over a year at work I throw it in my tool belt and use it for all kinds of things carry it around in my pocket not at work holds extra blades in handle also Comment from : @Forrestslr |
That knife is so baller
Just kidding no but really it's nice Comment from : @FBG-Romulus |
This is garbage It is too small to be comfortable in the hand for heavy duty cutting I go though 10-15 blades a day at my work and that screw is a pain when you need to change that much blades daily This knife doesn't have a storage for additional blades Just a useless piece of metal I use dewalt folding knife and i love it Comment from : @UNLISTEDWEB |
I use a dime to screw and unscrew Comment from : @mattheel5854 |
Yeah XD Comment from : @Frost_on_YouTube |
ha, nothing is legal in australia Comment from : @michaelpham12 |
You can get these things at Target now The coolest looking box-cutter ever :) Comment from : @peepmysteelo |
u r an idiot Comment from : @666mrjimbo |
Would this be legal in Australia? Comment from : @Frost_on_YouTube |
Truevalue is were I got my Sheffield Comment from : @kasprkev01 |
Get the Sheffield premium collection utility knife with wood accents and stainless steel It looks and performs good Comment from : @kasprkev01 |
There are some on Amazon Go there and search for sheffield utility I tried to copy and paste URL but it wont let me Comment from : @MrRichhuff |
I lost mine go-carting of all places FML Comment from : @tmann85 |
I actually have a Sheffield that I like way better Have had it for years and the clasp style blade retention system is solid and has no play like the quick release, but is much, much faster and easier to change than this one It also has a thumb peg I find this one too small to get a firm comfortable grip with The Sheffield is perfect Not knocking Gerber by any means, very good knife company, but IMO they got bested on this one Comment from : @MrRichhuff |
If it were an issure for me I'd grab a socket head cap screw (machine bolt) they would probably make a great thumb stud Comment from : @astaschak |
To make a thumb stud couldn't you just use a longer screw from the hardware store? Comment from : @Joyo292 |
I use this blade as part of my 3 blade system The light weight and compactness of this design allow me to carry a Cold Steel AK-47 and a Leatherman Charge or Juice S2 I have never needed a blade larger than a utility blade for daily tasks, and the Charge blade can act as a EDC blade if need be I do enjoy sharpening knives, but it is nice to know I don't have to worry about cutting cardboard or carpet with my EDC Great blade and have gifted it several times - a win Comment from : @nbdavis47 |
@pasquarielloanthony cool thanks Comment from : @DEVOTED2NATURE |
@pasquarielloanthony I was upset cause i thought i couldnt fix it but it turned out to be threaded Comment from : @Kylef7735 |
@trieck1232 ya this isn't for construction wayyyy too flimsy Comment from : @pasquarielloanthony |
@bentpickles yup love it it's big, fast, and the quick release for the blade is well designed i like the gravity knife opening also, there's no play in the joint i think it's the best of the market right now it's not slim like the gerber, it's big Comment from : @pasquarielloanthony |
@Kylef7735 i will give that a shot, tks for the tip Comment from : @pasquarielloanthony |
to switch blades i use a penny Comment from : @MrBikeguy99 |
Dangerous knife if you ask me I dropped from the second floor and it popped open after hitting the ground Too much blade exposed Easy to cut yourself if doing any heavy work There's other lock blade style utility knives with full size handles Comment from : @ytPiglet |
@pasquarielloanthony You have to use two sets of pliers to tighten the pivot, mine did the same thing but it got back to good after tightening Comment from : @Kylef7735 |
i will stick with the good old Stanley utility knife i had the other style before and its to small for me i dunno maybe its just me but i love what has worked for me for years and no failures with the Stanley utility knife and also i can keep my spare blades in my Stanley
Comment from : @firewallsniper |
preety kool I have the same feelings about quick release blades They can be dangerous I use them all day every day I am now using a dewalt quick release and its ok so far My opinion on on the gerbers look is not great for heavy use The entire blade is exposed for no good reason The handle is small Which causes hand fatigue The stanard receesed screw which you mentioned and closing it looks sketchy I hope to find the perfect utility knife one day too but i dont think this is it Comment from : @MWElectric |
Have you tried the Milwaukee utility knife? Comment from : @bentpickles |
I work construction all day long, and id rather have a lenox, that thing is WAY to small, and a screw? Ill pass
Comment from : @trieck1232 |
I'm a fan of the lock back, folding utility knives Sheffield puts one out, and Husky had one before going to the quick release I have never had a blade pull out of a lock back, and it doesn't require a screw driver to release the blade Comment from : @jpayne0880 |
I didn't know that knife is so compact and cut carpet well Comment from : @SuperRip7 |
Unfortunately the screw mechanism is a deal breaker I need one that can be able to exchange blades quickly because what I'm cutting is so highly destructive to the razor blades Comment from : @TerrinixNyphona |
they looks alot more like a tactical blade ;) Comment from : @ThomasSkrlj |
Nutnfancy, you should do a review on the updated version, the Gerbed EAB Lite I mean I know the changes are minimal, but still it'd still be nice Comment from : @bonnertom032 |
I've been use this for 5 years Love it Comment from : @soodlorr |
Depending on your cutting task this is very limited
I'm a loyal Home Depot customer and Nascar fan that can't stand 5 time champ Jimmie Johnson (Mostly, cause I'm a Kyle Bush fan) But, happened to be in Lowe's the other day and came across the Kobalt folding utility with a quick release interchangable blade mechinism that won't fall apart on you
It works great 20 years exp as a master carpenter Comment from : @MrVegaslive |
The Knife I am showing is connected to a measuring tape for one step measuring and cutting Perfect for sheetrock cutters both experienced and trainees You can visit
rockittools Comment from : @allenwithtaste |
Getting one from my friend slightly used for $5!
-Omar Comment from : @airsoftgunsandknives |
I bought it for use at work and you can't use it with gloves and need a screwdriver to change out the blades Their is very little surface to hold onto when cutting threw layers of cardboard like in a box for fitness equipment and if it gets wet or covered in oil it is a useless as much as a safety hazard
If Gerber went with more gimping on the handle it might be far more useful but at this point Craftsman model 9-48480 and Kobalt item 204093 have it beat Comment from : @lostend1 |
Those stanley blade copies are awful, Especially the plastic ones you can get at poundland, The original stanley blade had no sliding device, That`s something they added a few years ago, And I belive is a production mistake But by far the worst are those plastic snap off types with the slider going right along the side off the handle, I would go as far as to say they shouldn`t be made for sale, Under strain the slider moves, Bloody dangerous! I through mine straight in the bin! Comment from : @xmoroseguyx |
It would be great to have a place for one extra blade You know it would come in handy Comment from : @20lbhammerman |
@dougeastman me 2 Comment from : @kirklanddavis |
@UnfamousWannaBe i use a dime alot of the dime to change my blade Comment from : @kirklanddavis |
i like the kobolt one Comment from : @TheIcoolable |
I think they were right to put a flat head screw For the average man or women, They are more likely to have a flat head screwdriver than a hex bit Comment from : @UnfamousWannaBe |
Yeah I have one of these and I believe they were actually designed to use a penny or a dime to change the blade Comment from : @CryptixA28 |
No need to use a screwdriver or multitool to change blades, a penny works perfectly! Comment from : @xtremepado123 |
I put some grip tape along the spine, on the clip, in the choil (now I don't feel like I'm going to slip and slice my finger off!) and a tab on the front for easy one-handed use I agree that it would have been pretty easy for them to raise the screw for use as a thumb stud, I think the concern was that it would snag on your pocket a lot that way, but anyway, the grip tape tab works excellent for one-handed deployment, and certainly the rest of the tape in my palm just locks t right into my hand Comment from : @TheDavidMalachi |
I have been using this blade for years the only problem I had is that I would clip onto my pocket and while working would get knocked out and lost, so I had to buy a few of them Someone told me to clip it to my pocket with the blade on the inside my pocket and clip outside a lot better As far as changing the blades, I use a dime This is a great knife, looking into the eab lite also Comment from : @AKAciti |
@nutnfancy hey i have a question is your name David? Comment from : @Krazyk408 |
@chyrd yup Comment from : @JrSAR101 |
i sent one to my cousin in Iraq so he wouldnt have to use his kbar to open packages Comment from : @TheSmackfan101 |
u can use a pennie to take the blade off Comment from : @theLonesoldier18 |
holy crap was that a partially serrated blade on that cold steel voyager? i think it was Comment from : @sasquatch4liffee |
One glaring disadvantage- the EAB has no extra blades in itself sure, there may be a pouch to put them in, but are you going to want to carry that on you all the time? Comment from : @YukonOutdoors |
you cannot beat this knife, if you want to put a smile on someones face Comment from : @TheKlaj1992 |
you can actually take out the screw with a penny Comment from : @seong85 |
i use the back of the new razor blade to open the screw and the old blade to close it Comment from : @RatRodyo |
i have one of those i like it alot but i use my husky folding knive and i think thats alot better has nicer handle and a normal clip point part serated blade on it so that works alot better so your not only limited to the utility blade Comment from : @smith35744 |
