Great video! I think another reason why RBCs are biconcave is to increase surface area relative to the volume of the cell allowing for more efficient exchange of CO2 and O2 :) FYI, I love science too!

That's because hair (and nails) is dead tissue Blood flows to the hair follicle to feed nutrients to the hair shaft so it can grow That's why it hurts to pull your hair out, because the tissue is living :)

Biologically, platelets are small cell fragments that help with blood clotting I know that when they take platelets as a donation, they're often used in cancer patients It's a weird process - they take your blood from one arm, run it through a dialysis machine, pull out what they need and push the rest back in through your other arm The blood coming back is cold, which feels very strange running back into your arm!
