I did this with my engineering students at the university in my creativity class in the mid-nineties, in Brazil: I created a simple six-step method, which served for the initial characterization of problems that were discussed within the technique of group dynamics brainstorming:
bra) Identification: of the problem;
brb) Symptoms: of the problem;
brc) Origins: of the problem;
brd) Extent: of the problem;
bre) Implications: if nothing was done;
