Honestly, I get a degree not to say that I know how to code, but to let others know that I know how to code It just looks better on a resume brbrBut I totally get what this video is saying If you already know somewhat how to code (I learned and basically mastered python, before going to college and learning c#), going to a college class isn’t really going to be teaching you much, you’ll be learning a lot of what you already know It all basically amounts to “now, future employers know that you know how to code in this language”

The highest value a website can provide (in my opinion) is by processing huge amounts of data and presenting it in a useful and useable way In order to process and present that data you need a performant system In order for such a system to scale, you need to offload as much as possible to the client Therefore, the best route to take is via technologies that leverage the client side such as Webassembly, or JavaScript/Typescript frameworks, Vue, React, Angular In order to get that data to the client side you can use simple API requests but better than that is to use message queues and or web socketsbrThis is just my view based on my experience, I’m sure there are plenty of other directions that are good to go in, but to point out the sometimes not so obvious: you’re not going to get rich working on brochureware websites, unless you’re building a system for other people to build them, and now we’re back to scale again
