Edward, I opted for the Lunar Series High relief gold coins instead, due to the small mintage (388) The final numbers for the buffalo is in the 50K range I just think that the upside for the High relief lunars is greater, time will tell

Also, with the 2001 silver dollars selling out at the mint with some 500,000 mintage(?) and demand for that coin being so great that they sell for $150 a piece, I think this coin has some upside potential Although I plan on keeping mine, if the price goes to the moon, I would have no problem saying "I used to have one of those"

Don't take too long to move on gold It's already at or near bottom from the dead cat bounce post April crash and has the potential to move up fast with more evidence US will be dragged again into Israel's sandbox fightanother war for a broke country I wouldn't get the buffalo because the mintage is open-ended and would go for pandas- they have a great track record of semi-numi & hard to get over time If on a tight budget, go for fractionals and at least be knee deep in gold kiddie pool

IMO $250 over spot is a bit high If I were to buy one I would buy 2 and immediately get them graded and sell the highest grade since some people don't want to take the risk but want it for their set If I had the cash to buy 2 I would do it but that's easier said than done for a college student

Don't get too attached to premium coins Unless there is reason to think premium will keep climbing at a good rate, it's time to get out If you anticipate higher gold prices, also get out of the premium stuff At $10k gold you won't get 100 premium for even the rarest coins Sell you premium coins when premium flattens off, and get a new one, at the close to spot entry level Let your stack grow! Others can pay the premiums which you collected

I have an excellent background on US Mint items I bought the 2009 Ultra High Relief Gold Piece from the mint at a price of about $1300 (This was a one year only coin) and now as we speak it is worth about $3000 and yes I still own it and I'm not even thinking about selling I say Thumbs up on buying the Reverse Proof Buffalo especially since it is being minted for the first time The boys are playing with the price of paper silver again today
