Here in America students dealing with dyslexia & ADHD are put into 'Special Needs' class Very unfair to students dealing w/ teachers, bullies and the process of 'growing' It's demeaning, injust, hurtful, very painful But, Boy my Grandson has a unbelievable creative mind He has paintings, jewelry, but because of his academic results he gets so discouraged He has a dream of becoming a Muralist, he has a drawing pad of Tattoo Artisty He comes from a Family with Military History and this is his hearts desire After researching if a person can enlist, it's discouraging to me At present time research shows many who deal with these issues do not want to inform a future employer about their Dyslexia & ADHD Comment from : @mariefoley9080 |

I’ve been curious about how much my dyslexia, dyscalculia, and Irlen syndrome affect tasks involving numbers and reading Things like crocheting, sewing, baking, building, reading music, writing emails, verbal and written communication, pronouncing words properly, learning new languages, managing finances, keeping track of time, and even memory all seem to feel extra challenging at times It’s interesting to reflect on how these conditions impact my daily life in ways I don’t always noticebrbrI’ve been diagnosed since I was 11 years old, I didn’t start talking about it until 2 year ago when I turned 30 years old Comment from : @adri_eclectic_odyssey |
My mom told my 2nd grade teachers “dyslexia was an excuse for lazy people” brAnd now you can imagine what my school years were like🤦🏼♀️brDiagnosed in college and the coping mechanisms I taught myself to survive are the same ones they use today and I didn’t even know it! I problems solved that like a true dyslexic only could! Comment from : @mcawesomest1 |

Most of my life, I thought I was dumb Alright, at least it's really hard to shake the subconscious feeling of that, After having it implied to you all throughout your school years " You have difficulties You can't do all these things like others " People laugh at you and notice it, even if they don't say anythingbrbrIts a hard mindset to brake out ofbrbrthank goodness for voice to text, and text to speach! though it can feel accwerd to use in public or quieter spaces Comment from : @AstraPlanetshine |

annoying to read one page of notes for 2 hours just to understand but solving a chess puzzle layout in a flow state despite its difficulty even going back to the 17 th back puzzle and solving it with ease and remembering each piece placement 😅(i do type my text convert it for easy understanding from my way of understanding and retype it as official text/msg yes in exams i carry a pencil and an eraser with me to even in the office Comment from : @quintonnyakundi |

This may be like weird But I don’t think that we’re in essence “more creative” we just see problems differently-especially social ones I think This is bc we kinda miss the problem and don’t do all the thinking but just cut straight to a logical solution without all the extra thinking or emotions envolved Comment from : @Appl-mq8bw |
I know the route I had to go thru was a scenic route but I do not have dyslexia, some call it a disability I prefer to say a learning challenges I cannot do the same things as others and fast pace Like my first job at McDonald’s I was put on Frenchfries station and I wanted a detail list on how to work I got basically a brief instead and most of them doing my job for me and I actually tried to do it but some said I was too slow, one time I had to start over because one asked for extra crispy fries so I left them for slightly longer and the person doing sandwiches came and threw them away one customer asked for them to be extra crispy so that coworker probably caused me to have redo it 3 minutes takes awhile but when you get a system going it gets easier I wanted more times on the French fries station since it was fun but I only got to do it twice Comment from : @brenadavis8131 |
I don't see any plus just minus I don't really see anything to be really happy about having dyslexia so to this Day I'm not sure what are good and positive side of having dyslexia brbrIt's still hard to be successful especially when you meet people who don't understand you or don't give you a chance to show them that you be able to achieve something in life Comment from : @djdimo_97official34 |

I didn't know I was dyslexic until I watched a YouTube video and found out I am exactly like the person she was diagnosed with dyslexia I was sixty-four years old and realized that I had been dyslexic for all these years I always claim that I was lazy and not performing well in school, and yet I was a computer programmer for 34 years Writing a specification to solve a programming problem always took much longer than finding a solution for it Comment from : @haven4289 |

Thank you for your video ❤ I am the wife to a dyslexic and mom of 2 dyslexic children My husband and I searched and searched for help to understand why our bright son struggled so much in school After years of going from one specialist to another and doing everything they recommended, we finally got him correctly diagnosed Sadly, getting him the right help was just as difficult, so I became his tutor Now, I tutor children all over (here in the United States) to help them become better readers but most importantly, I try to rebuild their self-confidence It is my mission to teach people what dyslexia really is as opposed to what it is NOT Like you did in your video I tell my students that dyslexia is a SUPERPOWER Because I can teach them how to read, write, and spell better, but no one can teach my brain to do what a dyslexic brain can do Bravo to you🎉 I will be sending each of them your video❤ Comment from : @louisecoulter7574 |

So what are the advantages on being dyslexic as advertised in the title? Comment from : @Private_Library2 |

This is so relatable! I found I have dyslexia in high school, and view it as my superpower I graduated high school with the top English mark in my grade, and now have a Psychology degree For a course that was in the Psych degree program, that was about the brain, I gave a presentation about Dyslexia Keep creating! This was fabulous! My favourite fellow dyslexic person is Stephen Spielberg, because I enjoy his storytelling Comment from : @wijcik |

Everyone thought i was 'slow', I just learned differently After high school, I immediately became self-employed in home improvement that I knew nothing about! Built my first house at 24 and paid it un full 3 years later Looking back, I just thought that was normal I still think I'm not that smart even though I'm retired at 59, a millionaire, with many rentals Comment from : @vipkarl |

I am now 50 and found out from my teacher whilst learning a new language that I am dyslexic to be honest I thought it was myself and my learning abilities! My brother has problems with writing and learning I am super creative I can pick up instruments and I take to them like it was a part of me! I love drawing and being creative it’s the only things I am good at and I feel at peace! I always been challenged in life when people ask me what do you call this thing in English and I don’t know it really makes me feel I am been put in a corner and I get so frustrated! Nice video and I too played drums when I was in my 20’s it was something I just picked up without any problems and I was in a band! All the best with your vlogs! Comment from : @healingenergies639 |

Thanks again for the video! Comment from : @InekkaSanders |

I had a terrible time learning math in school I tried so hard I just couldn’t get it I would reverse the numbers or it seemed the numbers would just fall out of my head In the third grade my teacher actually had my classmates laughing at me because I didn’t get it I also had trouble with directions Up, down, right, left Since I’m either handed it seemed to make it harder sometimes When I was high school my math teacher told my parents he thought I had a form of dyslexia I now know I have Dyscalculia I can do simple math About 3 - 4 grade level After that I’m a nervous wreck I’m happy to know what it is that causes me problems I’m happy to know I’m not just stupid Like that terrible teacher said Good luck to all who suffer Dyslexia or Dyscalculia ❤❤ Comment from : @conniebabcock4045 |

Good for you making this video, as a child of the 70’s my parents were told by my teachers I won’t amount to anything as I was stupid, reality was I was dyslexic, my son is 11 and going through the same, 50 years later, sadly things haven’t changed with our education system, hopefully when my son has children things may start to change, keep making videos Comment from : @beautifulrooms3779 |

Is dyslexia like seeing a wordbrAnd having trouble figuring out which word this is?brFor example the word "mirror"brIf you hear the word "mirror", you understand it and you know what a mirror isbrbrWhat I want to know isbrWhen you see the word "mirror" written, are you having difficulty decoding that that particular sequence of letters constitute a symbol that is mapped to the idea of "mirror"? Hello from the USA! Great video I now would say: "I am a Dyslexic Person*", rather than "I have Dyslexia", Autism, etc Because they are ways of existing rather than diseases we "have", and we can reshape that idea in the minds of others as well as our own (Speaking of Reshaping, Picasso was dyslexic! and that's a perfect example of the visual / spatial thinking advantages it can have) *It also reminds them of our personhood! regardless of differences they may perceive in us Comment from : @VJFranzK |
Struggled with Dyslexia (had to check my spelling on that word - lol) in grade school when not much was known about it All they did was put me in the "slow-readers" group Which was a huge blow to my esteem It was not until college (or trade school because I did not have the confidence to go to college) that I really started to figure out HOW I learned There I excelled I scored the highest on their prerequisite tests when it came to 2D to 3D special recognition Since I work in the Civil Engineering field, this has its advantages brbrI now have 3 dyslexic kids, who are home schooled with special curriculum made for dyslexics and how they learn Wish that was available when I was a kid They are EXCELLING!brbrThanks for posting this!!
