I’m seriously considering ordering the Carv2, but I’m not sure if it would be enough on its own instead of having a trainer Since I live in Austria, attending Carv camps is unfortunately not an option! ;) After a longer break, I’m now back on the slopes and want to improve my carving in general Comment from : @-ndc-bla9770 |

I wrote the second part first Now I watched the video and must add that I learned quite a lot from this! Thank you!brI skied my entire life and recently I am really trying to improve my turns My problem is in all those videos I watch there are perfect conditions for carving I always ski in the swiss alps and there slopes are NOT in this condition It is even a pretty big resort Within 50 meters of the slope you often have bumps, ice and loose snow How am I supposed to carv like that? yes dude that s splendid take care of you and your relatives bless Comment from : @maxponsetis1948 |

So this is like old guys going Funcarving (like Walter Kuchler sad) , ski on Up leg And feel the carv… I realy dont Get it, you show that 70-80 is on down leg in turn but the last exercise was like old schol (UP leg ) , or I just feel it different ? brNice And perfect film I wish to life now as a teenagher but im 40 And no ACL in my knee 😂 brGreatings from Poland Comment from : @_adam__luka |

Правильный подход: телефон в руки и задницу ближе к склону, остальное по фигу! Но только не забудьте канты привинтить к жопе! Comment from : @williamspostoronnim9845 |

1:41 the hump of left outside ski - is that okay?brI learnt it as a sign of not enough weight push down the ski But seeing you doing it, maybe it is okay thing? Comment from : @juanperez-d1f6v |

This is so good I need to practice these techniques Watch out Ted Ligety 😂 Comment from : @richardcasey4439 |

Hand dragging seems cool, but it becomes a crutch Don't do it Edge angle is proportional to turning forces In other words, if you increase your edge angle without going faster, you are by definition making your skiing WORSE There is only one way to get higher edge anglesand that is to GO FASTER Any other way promotes bad skiing Comment from : @shooter7a |
😃Nice to watch as you ski It's like a classic GS ski competitor style Love those hip dragged over snow - perfect feeling in turn and best feeling between turns;) Drills you have shown are so stable and on so high speed - congrats of control and your body motoric performance (weight room in regular work I guess ;) )brCould you write a parameters of the ski which you've used in this video?⛷ thanks for answer👊 Comment from : @nowohucka |

Thank you for the Video - I was struggling to with both metrics last year and didn’t know how to improve them Looking forward to trying out the exercises! As usually, the devil is in details and practice 😉 Comment from : @dimitrikutsenko8229 |

Tomas - great video! I'm looking forward to focusing on Early Edging and Early Weight Transfer Does Carv 2 include these two metrics? Thanks Dan M Comment from : @danielmccarthy9734 |

I agree with they above comment Way contrived style Watch the best skiers at any western resort in the us You will NEVER see anyone put there hip on the snow Why, it takes to long to extend to proper height mid turn to get into the next turn My advice, learn to control your skid for mixed terrain That's the forgotten ace in the hole This type of skiing has an extremely small application for most real skiing Which for many of us occurs on semi crowded slopes with mixed conditions Ever notice the hill is basically empty in all these videos Also, if skiers intend to ski this way there needs to be some panoramic side to side vision with others on the hill Ever been nearly taken out by practicing carvers, I know I have My advice, learn the controlled skid in mixed terrain and you will never get bored Comment from : @danmccann8111 |

great job thomas Comment from : @DADEpc |

So the last part of the video is called "early aging" but is clearly meant to be "early EDGING" - Nobody wants to get old fast, unless you are under 21 and want to buy alchohol Comment from : @Nazrahnas |

Perfect explanation as usual! Great to see a coworker showing how great ! SALUDOS TOMI! Comment from : @ramirochipont8770 |
Very good ,very good, but…… maybe point down the min Level you need to start this phase off advanced carving, tell something about the required material, such as what kind off ski ,edge angles and scharpness, state ( snowquality, and angle) off the required piste you will use to do this exercise, instead off making publicity for an electronic ski app? Comment from : @guidouytterhaegen |
Logical because the maximum outside pressure is reached when the skis become parallel to the slope The minimum or zero outside pressure, (flat skis) is reached when the skis are perpendicular) 90deg) to the slopebrTherefore, the beginning of weight shifting or transfer begins at the apex of the turn The good skier is the one who can tell exactly when his skis become perfectly parallel to the slope(Ie, determine when the apex of the turn is reached)brThis is the most difficult part Needs milage!!!brbrConclusion:Tomas has described it perfectly well Comment from : @labibnader8755 |

Most amazing skiing here I like this style better than Ligety So much power and grace Comment from : @Davidr3G |

Peter BridgeIt is very good that you get into the discussion about skiing mechanic but if you talk about weight transfer during edge changes You are at least 40 years behind the equipment curveGet out of the old traditional stuff Comment from : @amundekroll7490 |
Stop talking about weight transfer You have to change the transition if you are trying to get an early edge changeThis is to much talking about nothingLearn something about kinetic energy Comment from : @amundekroll7490 |
Your skiing is so beautiful I need to watch this again to grasp these concepts Comment from : @hondajacka2 |
Thanks, very good content from Carv as usual I didn’t though really follow the first exercise, could you repeat the key points from that? The second exercise to go down and incline the inside leg looks really good and I look forward to practicing that one! Comment from : @realdealneal14 |
thank you so much! very useful 🙂I will try next week in Arabba, Dolomites Comment from : @ahbd1212 |
Thank you for this video I did the drill all afternoon, and my early edging went from 50 to 60 My edge angle has improved also, although a little less I wish there were more videos with drills to help improve the Carv metrics Thank you! Comment from : @cinzia598 |
I am a beginner who just discovered sensation on getting on the edge and staying on it through a portion of the turn I also learned how not to hurry into a turn and hurry the "rotation" which casuses skidding (aside of pushing with legs too fast and sometimes chaotically Now, I am a much better mountain biker than skier, often doing cornering drills on an asphalt parking lot with a rather rigid bike with slicks I also do some drills on wide gravel roads with proper full suspension MTB Watching your video it becomes clearer to me how similar these two sports actually when it comes to trying to achieve a smooth, powerful turn with a big dose of lean angle! What location is this? The background looks so pretty! Comment from : @sinclair7673 |

What radius ski were you on for this video? I'm guessing 16-19 meters Comment from : @estelja |
I can't see Tomas Micek on the official Carv leaderboard It's pretty discouraging to see Carv instructor not using Carv 😢 Comment from : @ursoos2 |
Edging lol Comment from : @adrianarchie |
Hi Tomas great video! I'm a Deer Valley ski Instructor taking a bunch of training clinics Also skiid with Ted Ligedy in Park City The focus of early edging for us is the "hip thrust" over the downhill ski earlier than normal Do you have any comments on this? Comment from : @pad2120 |
If i start shiffing weight at apex to old inside/new ouside/up hill leg, on the pressure graph, shouldn't I see the inside leg getting darker at the end of the turn? Instead, on leader board, the inside is getting lighter as the turn ends Comment from : @onlinewen |
I'm allowed to exaggerate my fundamental A-frame for an early edging drill?brbrChallenge accepted!brbrA wonderful video: I hope there is time left in my season to try this Comment from : @kuanjuliu |
Interesting how the ski instructors' world is so different to race skiing For any race coach this would be a video "how not to ski", basically never "ass to the grass" and always stay over the outside ski Especially nowadays, with Marco Odermatt in charge
brOtherwise it is nicely presented ski instructor stuff Comment from : @Andrey-f4m |
👌 Comment from : @pablomartinez7093 |

Tomas and CARV Team 🙏 for these quite relevant Drills … and YES 🙌 they truly works … I couldn’t 🎥 film as I was too focused on the execution and with too little time but amazing feelings as the edge angles start to naturally increase…it felt really like driving a sport car with superior gripbr… Comment from : @marcogiardinastories |

Whether you use Carv or not, they have really great tutorial videos online! Thanks for this new one again! Comment from : @drieskeb |

It was also very insightful that how Early Edging metric is calculated inside Carv I hope we can see this kind of explanation for other metrics as well Comment from : @kenken23 |
It would be apreeciable if The ski coach spend a further explanation on upper body movement To The Fall Line during transition Comment from : @giuseppemicheli596 |

superb instructions and tips here, Comment from : @tvardalos |

Very Good explanation on transition And what To do To early weight transfert To The Next outside ski Comment from : @giuseppemicheli596 |

I’ve used CARV in this ski season being very happy with it Your drills are well explained and especially the second one is opening my mind, surely next time I’ll try to apply them, thank you for this video Congrats for the CARV project and greetings from Italy! ⛷️👍🏻 Comment from : @Joevannini69 |

Way way over contrived! Park and ride What's with the 50 meter locked up turns on 15 meter skis? Comment from : @anthonysears871 |
Try that on ice dude! Comment from : @normalizedaudio2481 |
This is the exact video I have been looking for to get me into these skills I was struggling with early weight transfer and early edging last week Your drills are greatly appreciatedbrbrHeading to the airport for Carv Camp this week at Castle Mountain in Alberta 😊 Comment from : @WildMidwest1 |

In my opinion, the much better methodical approach to achieve high edge angles can be found under:br"Hand Drag Drill For High Edge Angle Carving", Tom Gellie - Big Picture Skiingbr"How to Ski Groomers - with Performance", Joshua Duncan-Smithbr"How To Ski - Dynamic Carving", Joshua Duncan-Smith Comment from : @redsock4843 |
Nice video and good explanation But the conditions that he's skiing are even rarer than a bluebird powder day Think about it, recently groomed snow, no ice, no bumps, uncrowded or empty piste, perfect almost constant pitch, unlimited visibility, and reasonably wide piste Comment from : @RaulTT1812 |
great job! Simple explanation and great performance and motivativation for others Comment from : @marketasveda9138 |
Nice! 😀👍 Comment from : @ivokoimecs |
Wow did not realise that you can shift your weight to new outside ski so soon Thanks for great explanation 😊 Comment from : @patrickpurcell3671 |
Vow, beautiful and powerful skiing I need to watch it again to digest As an adult, I find it's so hard to improve It might be because of the limit of flexibility overall The way to fold the body like you requires quite a lot of flexibility, especially the dorsiflexion on both ankles, especially again the inside ankle 😅 Comment from : @shijunli |
Really nice description I want to try it today, but unfortunately, Iam not at Aspen Highlands Comment from : @davidballou8693 |
Amazing project Comment from : @mersindvstries9911 |

While focusing on high edge angle and turn shape, it is important not to "hip dump" in the process brThanks for sharing Comment from : @ardenpowers7730 |

You explained it so well, thanks! Sometime the simplest things take time learn! I love Carv Comment from : @julsia6798 |
