If there are other metals filling the ring since it's not 100 pure, how can weighing it give you the exact amount of gold? Wouldn't you have to know the weight of the other metals in the jewlery as well?

its even simpler than going to 1 kt and multiplying up… 10kt is 10/24, 14kt is 14/24, 16kt is 16/24 why do 1/24 x its karat? just divide its karat by 24 much more simple
