On my 10th birthday my mother allowed me to invite five girls to go ice skating in lieu of a party She drove us 120 miles, round trip We didn't have ice cream and cake at the rink, there was no party room, nor did we have any ice skating star to idolize, but we had a ball! Mom was a trooper and stayed and watched us until the last hour of our session She went to the grocery store and bought some light snacks to eat before we left I never heard a nasty word from any party goer about not having ice cream or cake

There is no need to go expensive for an 8 year olds Birthday party, its called keeping up with the Jones 's in the UK This child is growing up, learning that she will get everything she wants because her mother will not use her brain and rein in her expensive tastes Her husband has been doing his part but the fact she didn't really include him in what she was doing thinking she could blackmail him into it by using child support court, If she couldn't afford it she should have paid less Children also need to realise the value of money and how to budget from a young age I think 8 is an ideal time to teach this young lady, these things, I would like to see how to handle money and a budget in all schools, so the next generations don't get caught up in the credit card trap and get into huge amount of debt We had savings accounts opened for us at age 1 by our grandparents and we put Birthday and Christmas money into it, if we wanted anything expensive we had to save up for it, We taught our own son to do the same thing Children are so rude and spoilt these days they need a good kick up the backside some of them but it is the parents fault they are like this, parents need to change their attitudes as well
