I get confused when determining the fraction of the year, sometimes it makes no sense brAs an example from PearsonbrbrApr 29 Declared a 20 stock dividendbrJun 3 Issued the stock dividend brJul 29 Repurchased 8,500 common sharesbrNov 1 Sold 2000 common shares brDec 31 Closed income summary brbrSo the example gives you fractions of the year: br5/12 br2/12 br3/12br2/12 brbrSo, I have no idea why the first fraction of the year takes into account the first 5 months Do we only account for transactions such as the repurchase and sale of shares when determining the fraction of the year?
