the health changes when transforming come down to toal health, i belive I have absolutely not done the numbers to confirm it, but i think if you transform with remaining 80 health, your health goes to 80 health of your new form if you transform with 20 health, you go to 20 health of your new form That's why the "damage" depends on your current remaining health Same for transformations into forms with higher max health

I'm pretty sure janemba losing health when he transforms was a balance decision He's going from being a giant character who's more likely to get hit with projectiles and fast attacks to a pretty normal sized one who's much more evasive The drop in health makes it so he doesn't have the extra cushion of health he would have to make up for his bigger hitbox otherwise
