I never knew about that tiny denomination More fascinating insights Once again, truly beautiful gold coinage I marvel how ancient engravers achieved such impressive detail without lenses to work with I'm guessing they'd somehow used water as a primitive refractor to enlarge details It would make a superb episode to show how on earth they'd accomplished it

A really cool denomination is the roman republican cast “decussis” it is a giant coin and at the time was worth 10 asses, so like a denarius (however the decussis were cast 1-3 years before the denarius)
