My attitude has always been that I cannot afford not to save It was certainly much more difficult when I was making minimum wage but other than the occasional setback or when it was time to pay tuition I always made sure to spend less than I made As my income grew I prioritized a higher savings rate and would only allow myself to splurge if I met or exceeded my savings goal Living on hard mode early on made it comparatively easier at each stage so far to live below my means

It heavily depends on your circumstance I wasn’t paying rent but I was paying for electricity, phone, food, and car and was able to save up to almost 10,000 in about a year If I was paying rent I’d have taken me probably twice or triple that I make a little over minimum wage 😅

I mean yes the takeaway is that making more money makes it 'easier' to save, but the fact is the people making < 50k are not saving at all brbrWhen I was making 32-36k a year I managed to save up 5000$ a year Curiously my savings rate goes down as I make more money (that mortgage doesn't help) since I get more expenses So my anecdotal evidence is the opposite of these resultsbrbrI bet if I made 500k I would save 0$ a month lol

uh did not expect the salaries to get that high; not sure if this is real, but private equity associates don't make that much at such a young age and even for attorney's, unless you're partner at a big law firm, that number is way too high
