The best part of this is learning what not to do and not to experiment with other people's lives, including your own children His children suffered Comment from : @lovelyjbowden |
well its proven now that opposite is best mothers know best love and affection makes kids thrive ignoring kids make them sick mentally and physically men don't have maternal instinct literally biology telling mothers what their children need no you don't ignore your child when they're crying-that's common sense its sad how men tell mothers to disassociate from their children and mothers doubt themselves brbrmothers and fathers need to be stronger support your child Comment from : @itsmiri9 |

freak Comment from : @harishsingh2451 |
This is a very dualistic issue, between giving too much affection or not giving it at all We need to establish a middle ground, which means that the child is not needy to seek attention, nor spoiled, so that he is arrogant, believing that he can do anything Watson thought about it, I believe Comment from : @familialopes4955 |
The accurate title should be Watson's dark theory Comment from : @ChimezieFredAnaekwe |
What is the theory before behaviourism? The one that he denied with this experiment and made him move on to behaviourism!! Important Comment from : @franciscosilva8999 |

Oh! 😀 Comment from : @izzyzle |
Sounds like at the end of Watsons life, he experienced despair, like in Eriksons theory of psychosocial development Comment from : @LD-hs9iv |
As sad as that situation is, i believe whole heartedly that at the time he genuinely believed he was doing the right thing by his kids The fact that he rejected his own work in his old age speaks volumes to this But honestly, it really sucks that he believed that therapy is useless because those kids could have used some Comment from : @shevanz1589 |
Watson is yet another case of somebody writing papers about their belief system, and calling it "science" Comment from : @ROWLANDANTONBARKLEY |
Very interesting situation is the same as covid 19 : no touch, no party, how to raise up anxiety of children like Watson's book Don't follow kind of doctor Comment from : @leptitecran9067 |
Blind leading the blind in further blindness Comment from : @mollyringwerm9224 |
This feels like the beginning of an [every?] evil villian's origin story He did not seem to have any empathy for other humans beings and treated them as products, not people I'm saddened by how his children missed out on an intimate connection with their Dad and did not live a life of joy, love or hopefulness I wonder what it would have been like had Watson has his childhood trauma addressed and his needs and feelings validated How different his life , his wife's life, and his children's lives would have been Comment from : @rkms5606 |
I believe his biggest error was disdaining his children as unique human beings and instead trying to control them in accordance with his own theories Even if the target of your control attempts is unaware of it now, he or she will eventually and will come to hate you and everything you've taught them I think parenting is similar to the old adage, "Treat others how you want to be treated" Because you wouldn't want to be treated that way as a child or even as an adult, you shouldn't be too harsh or cold with them Give them a loving upbringing, and allow them to follow as few restrictions as possible Comment from : @LexiNicoleG122 |
Not the airy and happy music while talking about childhood trauma and attempting suicide Comment from : @angelnatanael72 |
He was an excellent example of how intellectuals can be so deeply stupid, that their influence on those around them amounts to pure evil Comment from : @andrewnelson3681 |
I think Watson was on to something even now science proves that habits and behaviours can be changed through conditioning, however, his method of going about it is totally wrong and my heart aches for the children who endured the methodologies he wrote about Comment from : @stephanieoyelade8942 |
Can you imagine if little Albert got invited to a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese later on in life? What kind of damage did this "psychologist" do to tiny little Albert's tiny little psyche? It's funny that a pioneer of one of the pillars of psychology happens to be a psychopath Comment from : @InfiniteBibleuniverse |
Watson already said "A child's future is determined by their environment and upbringing" He was already so close, yet totally went the other way What a shame Comment from : @lordsiomai |
A happy child is a child with a compassionate and loving family Not kissing your child is also the same as not telling them you love them Poor children Comment from : @jessygutierrez3204 |
He is right, the only methods he used had terrible results because of his lack of knowledge Comment from : @LiveDoG |
🇭🇹🤔 Comment from : @zoecadolouis578 |
Unfortunately, Watson's theory has made a comeback with this generation Comment from : @donnaboster2467 |
Well I saw many cases in which child got lots of love , care , hugs and support but still for some particular reason they end up their life Indeed emotions , care and human affection necessary but that's not all Other factors also responsible for behaviourism like punishment and strictness in regulating way so parents don't end up spoiling their own child In my perspective his whole theory wasn't garbage we just need to do some corrections like on suitable age group and make theory less rigorous Comment from : @peppermint6691 |
That doctor was an Asshole for what he have done to the child Comment from : @yaseenmahmoud6190 |
The fact that this guy had some golden medal or some huge prize due to his efforts even though the kid albert died after 6 years from getting experimented on and most likely because he couldn't live with damage sustained makes this whole story so dark Comment from : @yeyouhd8802 |
Don't kiss your child? Hahaha i guess that's why boomers are so emotionally distant Comment from : @PTAdnan |

Sad and sorry to hear, but at least he realised his weakness and faults, forgiven-able? and his test/idea allow others to learn & correct for a better future, wish all areas experts/leaders can admitted and correct Comment from : @user-vp5iy8ec9q |
I believe its a both theorys cause you become and posibilty to pick up the habits you see during your up coming I also believe we can help our children to become wise healthy human beings Comment from : @lorenamendoza8342 |
I can't believe I am still learning about this shit in my degree Comment from : @Scottfraser250 |
he was right in part, which is that a human being's behaviour is due to the environment around him/her, to a great extent However, training an infant in purpose like training an animal in circus is definitely wrong Comment from : @Braindeadsoda |
I think not showing affection to child, kisses, hugging is wrong It will do more harm than good Comment from : @anonymousbeing5510 |
Training the brain to become better is good but God gifted us all with a heart and emotions as well Sharing, caring and expressing ourselves is very important while growing up Comment from : @srishtikannaujiya2050 |
Watson's biggest mistake was that he tried to manipulate the behaviour of his children's but in a negative way expecting positive changes but too much of something only reults in the opposite Too much of harshness towards children's can either turn them against you or them being emotionally weak and feel unwanted and hence resulting in mental health problems(mostly teens commit suicide when they feel they are good at nothing and their existence doesn't matters)Likewise, too much love would also sometimes destroy them and make them disobedient and undisciplined Hence, parents should treat children's with love , patience, affection along with showing some strickness to make them feel that they cannot get away with anything wrong they do So that they fear doing the wrong and choose the right path And when the children's make mistakes instead of shouting at them parent's should make them sit calmly and try to understand them and also make them understandIts like you need to understand your child in order to make him/her understand Nothing goes the way you want by force Comment from : @bishhforyou400 |
It depends, the environment plays an important role on human development but some traits are genetic Comment from : @frankmallard845 |
I think my mum read his book, our up-bringing was the exact replica of his parenting dogma Comment from : @stevensibbet5869 |
The Left still clings to the Theory of Behaviourism - every bad act is caused by deprivation etc Comment from : @stevensibbet5869 |
What a monster He treated all his readers as his test subjects He damaged all those families that believed his nonsense Comment from : @andrewsoon8062 |
I can't stand hearing "Give me a dozen children and I can make literally superman", it's so arrogant and a completely false statement Watson just took inspiration from Pavlov and thought that humans are as easy to manipulate as dogs I don't fault him completely, as psychological science at his time was still just an infant, but still, his "theory" has negative repercussions to this day Goes to show that we should be more thoughtfull of what we deem to be the truth, Comment from : @simulacrxm |
Albert was scared of the noise struck everytime he went near the rat and not the rat Comment from : @Missladybug62 |
He was wrong all the time but why we study this! It’s not working with human that’s what we know so far Comment from : @Ehuuuuu2559 |
The Balance between social, emotional and physical aspects were ignored Comment from : @franceblack8521 |
This guy was barbaric didn’t had any empathy, I’d teach him a lesson if he did that little albert experiment infront of meShouldn’t have been tried on any child even if it’s hisHis reasoning towards life makes him a emotionless person Comment from : @brainthrusters9529 |
so sad 🙁 Comment from : @ailalia |
The important role of parents affect a lot their children The children inherit a lot of characters of their parents Comment from : @Thuhuong0705 |
If given a dozen of children All of them will commit suicide 🤣😂😅 fail watson Comment from : @robin6815 |
His hypothesis was right You can technically turn someone into anything you want However, it is only possible inside a lab In the real world, many other variables arise such as peer pressure, etc that are completely out of your control Comment from : @archerwarden2274 |
I FEEL SORRY FOR ALBERT Comment from : @hikarushindo6124 |
He experimented on his own children and was a terrible father brAnd psychologists wonder why we don't take them seriously Comment from : @ShadeSlayer1911 |

These all started in 1920'sbrThe abused children will grow up and become parents by 1940-1960'sbrIt's likely that most of the mid-19's parents were abusive because of the lack of love from their childhoodbrThe 1940's-1960's children become parents brbrMy grandfather was super abusive to my grandma They were born the 60's Comment from : @malcolmdy |
This explains a lot about boomers Comment from : @potionmonkey157 |
I think Watson's mistake was applying his theory in conditioning psychology yet forgot to apply mental conditioning It's clearly seen that the following one does play a vital role in ensuring the emotional growth of a kid Comment from : @nhunnhayquabo6783 |
Life is a ChaosbrDon't try to control it brJust flow with it brBe in the present moment by giving it full attention Comment from : @ravikt |
