I really agree with one point is that, from a producers standpoint - one of the most important things to learn - is to know music well enough that you can take apart and break down your favorite songs, and understand what’s happening I don’t think you have to be an amazing technical keyboard player to make great songs You can always hire people for fancy solosbrbrOne tool I use to take apart and study songs is Samplab It converts audio files to midi

This is a really good video, It´s just what I needed! I work as a guitar teacher But I´m also into music producing and I realized that playing piano would help me a lot I learned piano like this in the past, but I was looking for a piano method and everything is focus on people that just want to play songs and don´t know anything about music, but I already know the music theory and how to practice an instrument I´m not interested on playing other people´s songs, I just want to use it as a composing tool So basically this is the video

If you are classically trained you learn about theory and song composition from day one so this is kind of inaccurate The 15 year pianists should easily be able to improvise a simple pop song

This is so interesting from another perspective! My background is in painting, and I notice similar issue - a lot of people can paint quite well if they are looking at references, but most of them would find it very hard to improvise or come up with their own image as they paint I think these are two different mindsets
