Bro thank god I seen this video, I’ve always felt like this as a musician and got down about myself I even had instructors tell me the soulless way of learning not as a musician Comment from : @ser3n1ty68 |

Thank you🧡 Comment from : @sylvieswords |

I really agree with one point is that, from a producers standpoint - one of the most important things to learn - is to know music well enough that you can take apart and break down your favorite songs, and understand what’s happening I don’t think you have to be an amazing technical keyboard player to make great songs You can always hire people for fancy solosbrbrOne tool I use to take apart and study songs is Samplab It converts audio files to midi Comment from : @norakat |

I quit everyday Comment from : @billwang3720 |

I love this video so much and keep rewatching it❤️ but I can’t figure out what to actually practice😭 I’ve never been taught piano and can’t read lead sheets well but I know some basic music theory Comment from : @RythmGamer_07 |
I'm not gonna lie, I think Bob could also write a song Comment from : @lukis6220 |

This is a really good video, It´s just what I needed! I work as a guitar teacher But I´m also into music producing and I realized that playing piano would help me a lot I learned piano like this in the past, but I was looking for a piano method and everything is focus on people that just want to play songs and don´t know anything about music, but I already know the music theory and how to practice an instrument I´m not interested on playing other people´s songs, I just want to use it as a composing tool So basically this is the video Comment from : @koldobikf1992 |
Amazing This is exactly what I always think about I like to improvise myself, but am also classically trained, so I see this difference between the jazz and classical method all the time This was a very refreshing video! Comment from : @Otto_de_Ruiter |

Imagine knowing theory and be good at clicking on piano roll notes, but not play what you write well that's me Better embrace to be bad, maybe I can experiment with that Comment from : @stebeusmusic |

How did you learn transcription? How did you learn how to hear and play music you're hearing like you've done at 9:38? Any learning sources? Comment from : @isthisidris |
I really enjoyed this video I have been struggling with learning how to make melodies and chords sound good, especially since I watch piano tutorials all the time What hit me was when you said people know how to play other people's stuff, but what about your own stuff? How do you practice so that you can make your own music? It clicked in my head when you said you could do it by using transcriptions and improvisation Thank you Comment from : @Voycce-y2j |
I'm that one person thank you Comment from : @TakudzwaOsborne97 |
This was exactly what I needed Thank you for making this lovely guide!!! Comment from : @charlesradcliffe1398 |
I think bob would be able to make even better pieces than you because he is classically trained which means he know all the music theory so please dont humble a man like bob like that Comment from : @AleksandarKaranac |
If you are classically trained you learn about theory and song composition from day one so this is kind of inaccurate The 15 year pianists should easily be able to improvise a simple pop song Comment from : @johnnybravo1596 |
Great video, I’ve really been inspired seeing more people lay their whole process out, warts and all I come from a world we hide all thisbrbrAnd you are very right there’s a whole set of other skills to train your brain to write music Most materials center on making you a human playback machine:)brbrThanks for this! Comment from : @Leland_Elliott |

Brother, I don't think you realize what you've done here you've unleashed a creative block for music producers, you've laid out the formula to infinite creativity, for those willing to put the time in Playing the piano adds a feel into your music you can never replicate on the piano roll and punching in melodies Thank you so much Been stuck at the first part of the video you mention for one year, to the point I stopped playing This inspired me to start transcribing and improvising again on a daily basis, and it's unlocked another mode for me Thank you Comment from : @on3peat |
Awww Thank YOU! I really needed this, so happy the algorithm pushed you towards me a second time, this time you got a new subscriber, I'm excited to grow alongside you as a producer! This is so interesting from another perspective! My background is in painting, and I notice similar issue - a lot of people can paint quite well if they are looking at references, but most of them would find it very hard to improvise or come up with their own image as they paint I think these are two different mindsets Comment from : @shinin645 |
Thank you ! Comment from : @shvnlocalcrew |

transcription and improv really helps you develop your musical ear more as well, and the satisfaction that comes out of being resourceful with the basics even if ur no instrumental whiz really motivates you from time to time to just keep on practicing brbrlove this vid a lot too thank u camus!! Comment from : @untildeathbereiterateduntome |
It’s funny as a producer that samples and plays it’s all relative Music Theory is something that’s needed to tap into the human psyche Once I practiced keys it made my music ten times better Mind u I still sample just not as much Knowledge mixed with experimentation is what makes hits Not a formula It’s all feeling Comment from : @orcmusic6715 |
