I'm tired of the crap Duolingo gets I have finished the German course, and now I understand most spoken and written German What more could I wish for It says that I'm halfway into B1, and that's about right Duolingo is very good with 15 minutes a day you actually learn a lot I'm soon halfway through B2 in French and I did not know anything in advance Now I can read the sports pages in Le Monde more or less effortless Should I have been better? I don't think so and I have also done Dutch with good results (this is a smaller course) It has never promised C1 og C2 But now I can do ordinary things in those languages and are able to read and be exposed to those languages, and that is the way to reach C1 or C2 You don't need a fancy new app Just buy books, watch tv, and get exposed to the language That is really how I got to learn English being Scandinavian myself I now know a lot of west-European languages, and those go around in much of the rest of the world, too Traveling for me has gotten a lot easier it is easier to read the signs, understand the culture and just not get stuck I really enjoy it I'll pass on buying expensive apps

I genuinely thought the last segment about input through podcasts, while also looking at text was going to mention LingQ This app finds you podcasts, materials, audiobooks, youtube videos in your target language, while also giving you a text to follow along with the audio and in case you don't know any word you can simply click on it, see a translation and even save it as a flashcard
