You know what a lot, I mean a lot of people, don't realize Old baseball cards are like vintage cars When selling a vintage car, people ask a ridiculous price on a car saying, I saw my car sell on Barrett Jackson for 80K Yeah, that was for a perfect condition car, perfect Prices on baseball cards are the same way, a card not in perfect condition isn't worth that much Comment from : @corymcewen5943 |
As a kid in the late 80s I had the 79 Munson , I need to get that card back in my collection Comment from : @Nerdsplayingcards |

How does a Ricky Henderson rookie not make the list? Fuck baseball cards I had some of these and no one cared about them in the 90's I was conned into buying a Ricky Henderson rookie right before the huge baseball card bubble in the early to mid 90's Bought it for 40 dollars basically all my savings I think it's probably still at 40 dollars or less 30 years later Comment from : @urwholefamilydied |
why not any minis Comment from : @tiberiusbrazas1707 |
I will never forgive the Cubs trading Dennis Eckersley after back-to-back complete game shutouts as a starter Comment from : @mattsullivan7363 |

Pete Rose for HoF Comment from : @sharablecortex2725 |
Yes, those are Topps cards that are fine and dandy like sour candy But Topps (even though they have the exact same photography) and also O-Pee-Chee are much more rare and valuable Comment from : @SSM_Buvedue |
I'd rather be a pitcher than a catcher Comment from : @flybone100 |
I primarily collect 1970s vintage Was a huge Brett fan glowing up in the mid 70s This was a very enjoyable video Thanks Comment from : @kylemccormack4120 |

You can get a chrome version of that 75 Ryan and it looks great Best one in my opinion of that commemorative Ryan set Not the same as a refractor but still very nice Comment from : @duewhit310 |
4 player Cup-o-Coffee cards were not cared about when they came out and so they are not as good as a FIRST solo card People are followers and so they CHASE after any FIRST card even when surrounded by 3 players nobody ever heard of And theyre all close-up face shots (Makes for a poor PHOTO-ALBUM entry, by the way) Comment from : @duewhit310 |
You can get a 2001 archives reserve of that 77 Fisk and it looks great as well as a refractor For dollars! Comment from : @duewhit310 |
Top5 banks to go under brTop20 grocery items jumping in valuebrbrThis is a GREAT time to absolutely NOT collect sports cards nor to "invest"/GAMBLE on them brbrWhen the food shelves go empty put mustard on those cards! Comment from : @duewhit310 |
He’s off on the Dale Murphy ‘77 rook as it doesn’t sell for less than $450 Comment from : @tomhanson1875 |
Great video as always One of your comments - that Bench was arguably the greatest catcher of all time - made me think about Yogi Berra 3 MVPs and 10 WS rings But seems to be forgotten Could be an interesting future video for you: under appreciated HOFers like Berra, Frank Robinson, Jim Palmer, etc Comment from : @grownmanlookingatsportscar194 |
78 Topps Murphy also has three other really really good catches on it Always thought that card was undervalue but all the great 77 tops that showed up on that list was totally awesome! Comment from : @KennyLessing |
I love watching your videos just to see if I have any of the cards listed I do have two of these! I have one of the Molitor and five of the Brett's My Molitor wood grade out to a 3 and my best Brett Wood crate out to a 7 Comment from : @hognuckles |
I love the lists, as always Though with the not inclusion of the 75 mini cards, I kinda feel they should count Was just wondering,if that might be, if any of the mini versions, would or do, command a higher price, for any of the already, wildly valuable, standard cards? Also, how much does their more rare, I'd imagine, they are, but, likely not more valuable, in terms of auction sale numbers Perhaps there are examples that may be out of step with a standard, or typical, rule of thumb And, if it's something you are privy to, how does condition grading, compare? Lack of tens? Just curious, if you may have looked into any of the questions I am having Comment from : @larraldhalls495 |
Great video Eckersley was not the all-time leader in saves when he retired tho' It was Lee Smith - 478 Comment from : @williammorgan961 |
Definitely stoked to see my all time fav player show up with the top card overall The ALT app shows it as a pop 5 in psa 10 Honestly that is hard to fathom for a set that is in no wise rare I mean, his 93 finest refractor in psa 10 is a pop 9 😢 🔥🔥🔥🔥 thanks, as always, for another great vid 💪🏼 Comment from : @bryanmccoy203 |
Thanks for the video, Chris! Kudos to the research department! Guessing a Ken McMullen was #21 Shout out to the 1975 Herb Washington Comment from : @tommayrant2279 |
Vintage 70s! Pound for pound, Dawson was the best player I ever saw Murphy and Hernandez should be in HOF, way above Larkin, Baines, Minosa, and Simmons That 7 no hitters in the era of base hitters is probably the most impressive thing ever achieved in baseball Comment from : @jude999 |
Jack Morris pitched the greatest game in world series history (with apologies to Don Larson) Comment from : @rambler1475 |
I was in the hospital for a week in 1977, 9 years old, parents divorced My mom and dad brought me so many packs of baseball cards and I still have them 😊 Comment from : @MySandstrom |

Munson was 32, not 30 when he died Comment from : @bigdaddycool1366 |
Incredible how untouched by time Nolan Ryan's popularity is A 7th year psa 8 Ryan gets more than the RC of the greatest Brewer ever in Yount, RC of a guy in the goat shortstop discussion in Smith, and only gets edged out by the RC of the greatest Royal ever, George Brett Long live Nolan Ryan, the biggest name in the hobby after Mantle Comment from : @snerdterguson |
Eddie Murray is still way undervalued and underappreciated in this hobby One of only a few with 3,000 hits and 500 or more HR I only own two of his raw rookies but I wish I could afford an SGC 9 Comment from : @chrisc4264 |
Great stuff, Chris Stumped me with Bruce Sutter Thanks for this Comment from : @PushnButtons62 |

My favorite era of cards Comment from : @williambartenslager4134 |
Great trivia questions, love the hobby quizzes Comment from : @nkmason8284 |
You know what would be a fun series If you could own 10 cards from each decade what would they be Could do a budget version and a no limits version Comment from : @BLYKMYK44 |
You would think Rod Carew played in 155 games and had PA 694 388 get more respect He was at 400 at one point and tried by the in of season Brett only played in 117 games and only had PA 515 and 390 Gwynn only played in 110 games and only 475 PA with 394 Comment from : @jamieschmaedeka1177 |
I love the 1975 Topps set Comment from : @ACD1994 |
IN 1977, Reggie Jackson had 3 home runs on 3 swings Amazing Comment from : @ACD1994 |
Another interesting tidbit, if you search for George Brett poop story you’ll find he is not only number one on this list but also has the number one story ever recorded Comment from : @trollerskater |
'Keith Hernandez? Keith Hernandez?!? I DESPISE Keith Hernandez!' Comment from : @JustinKircherjK |
Happy to see the Murph on that list Comment from : @Time2Rip |
Love these years in cards along with the early 80s Thanks for sharing! Comment from : @starscream5263 |
I'm surprised that the Eddie Murray isn't higher Seems undervalued Comment from : @markholmes6523 |
Surprised Bob Gibson's 1975 Topps Card didn't make the list Comment from : @TaserCake |
loved the triva at the end! :) Comment from : @matthewcook2097 |
Chris Thank you for finally putting an identifier (EX) next to "Raw" From my understanding, your (EX) citation states the average raw card from the 70s is indeed in EX condition I agree with this assumption This also fills a logic gap that you have left unfilled and that is why I have always operated under the assumption that you "lowball"" ungraded cards I now understand that it's not that you undervalue them, it's just that you speak about them in general terms as raw/ EX cards This does bring up a question though How do you go about estimating high-grade/great eye-appeal vintage raw cards? Knowing that the ranges between PSA 7, 8, or 9 are highly subjective within the industry makes the notion of paying top dollar for raw cards a very risky proposition Comment from : @word723 |
Great video as always, Chris Kind of off topic, but this video got me thinking about the GOATs who played in all parts of the 70s What a great decade of baseball, maybe the best in terms of greatness playing in one decade Comment from : @sammyhill93 |
You could have named this… The top 10 mustaches from the 1970s Comment from : @SportscardLyle_onIG |
Really enjoy this series, thank you! Comment from : @Jackson_Farnsworth |
3 of my all-time favorite players on here Reggie, Schmidt and Brett I have a raw Reggie rookie, probably a PSA 2/3, a Brett PSA 5 RC, but I'm in need of a Schmidt rookie I'll own one someday Comment from : @mattsbaseballcardbreaks5952 |
The George Brett rookie is still one of my favorite cards of all time Just something about that card I love Comment from : @cs5845 |
My favourite Keith Hernandez moment was his Seinfeld appearance 😂 Comment from : @markd2460 |
What’s your preferred method for getting values for different grades of cards? Comment from : @jordanparks99 |
Great video Incredible there has never been a PSA 10 for the 1975 Topps Hank Aaron card Comment from : @888strummer |
