As a BIPOC woman, and college professor, I agree with all of this except for the one on Group Work Indigenous students hate group work assignments because only very rarely does everyone pull their own weight We also can’t stand break out rooms, which have the same effect as putting us on the ‘hot seat’ The only exception to these would be a small classroom with students who have known each other for years, similar to what you would see in a Bureau of Indian Education school If your classroom is mixed with Indigenous students and other ethnic groups, please avoid doing both It’s not fun, it’s painful to us, and it cancels out any other student engagement that has been working for us My last tip is remember Indigenous students don’t speak up a lot because they are thinking and processing what you are saying—you are the expert in the classroom, and they want to give you the correct answer to your questions, not the first one off the top of their head Comment from : @professordianaskole |

So when will the teacher have time to sufficiently teach literacy, grammar and math? My child is tri racial, how would this work for her? I don't send her to school to be socially dissected and labeled Maybe if we revert back to core studies we wouldn't have illiterate children graduating highschool, The unnecessary fat being induced in our curriculums are setting our kids up for failure and teachers for burn out Comment from : @ohnonotzoey6478 |
