Hello, i tried to cheat Pokemon rumble world with poke diamonds but it doesn't work Can you help me?

my issue is this: i go into checkpoint, tag a few cheats (zelda between worlds) exit, enter game, press the required buttons, get a menu without a "cheat" linei even saved once in checkpointwhat am i forgetting? EDIT: for some reason i did not have Luma, and had to load, and bingo, link was impervious(thought I did have it on there)
