One tip I’d offer is if going this route, it may be worth having one more separate savings account (non-cd) to cover unusual emergency expenses A cd ladder is great for job loss as you can match your income and stop laddering when you need to but it’s helpful to have funds for unusual expenses like car breakdowns, house maintenance, etc

I've seen financial situations change literally from one week to another I think this is definitely an option and creative/, effective way to build that interest, but some emergencies aren't going to warrant waiting for the closest next month or year I do think there is a place for this type of saving but it would be wise to keep a chunk in an easily accessible savings account also along with it You're very clearly invested in creating a solid safety net which is amazing, why risk having to lose a massive chunk of interest and rather just create a backup emergency in a standard no withdrawal penalty savings account as well?

Having less temptation to take the money out is really huge! I definitely don’t want to out my regular emergency fund into a CD, but I really want to do this now that my regular EF is at 10K
