hey guy the mint does not do any grading that is done by grading services like pcgs and ngc so the spirit 66 is a phony what you see on the slabbed coin is true and the grading services make sure of it by being on the floor in the mint

What if you have two coins, same price, same year, same grade (PR-69), but one is a first strike Would you take the first strike label, or non first strike, all other factors being equal?

I refuse to support this "first strike" or "early release" nonsense Not saying I will never buy a slabbed coin, because I occasionally do, but as you pointed out "first strike" doesn't really bmean/b anything, because the die can and does get replaced throughout the minting process

There are only two reasons I’d ever buy fs/er designations One is if I can get it at the same price as a normal non-designated coin The second is if I think the value of an MS70 is going to rise above the initial fs price before the non-designated coins become available Which, of course, is rare

Thanks for the info I don’t go out of my way to get coins with early release or first strike For some new release slabbed coins, it seems that those designations may be the only way they’re available early on I bought a slabbed Emu and it came with a first strike label Great info to consider for sure tho Thanks for putting it out there
