One question - do any of these options take into account the wind when it comes to distances? I can imagine that would affect the yardage a hole is playing Comment from : @OneShotBetter |

If you can't get an accurate lazer line to the flag because its blocked by trees or whatever you shouldn't be trying to go for the green anyway Comment from : @thefivepoints |

I love my Garmin Fenix 5x plus (watch) but I can't seem to work out how to get bunker/hazard distances I only get front/middle/back of green Maybe it's the app maybe it's the watch I'm not sure Any ideas? Comment from : @timquain5341 |
I use a phone GPS app plus range finder It's the most versatile and covers all scenariosbrTried a GPS watch, wasn't for me Comment from : @suilegew |
I’m so badly undecided that I use Golf Shot Paid App and that goes to my Apple Watch, as well as MiScore and my rangefinder brNo wonder I struggle, it can be information overload but I can’t help myself 😂😭🤦🏼♂️ Comment from : @MrKaxid |
What impact does the shaft flex have? Regular vs stiff?? Comment from : @thedogpound2986 |
Very good video I have the rangefinder without slope and I like it the most as I have the most involvement with that Golf isn't supposed to be "easy" 🤣 And with the rangefinder I have to use my brain Comment from : @peterhammer4644 |
Used my apple watch with the 18 Birdies App yesterday and it worked great Surprised more people aren't talking about it Great video! Comment from : @robbyatx |
How about an Apple Watch using an app like GolfShot? You get both phone app with course layout plus a gps watch It has been amazing for me on the course plus tracking lots of other stats on top of your score and even auto shot tracking! Comment from : @sotkata1 |
Someone in production has time on their hands… wonderful, intuitive graphics to assist understanding But a little basic, perhaps for your target audience? Nevertheless, bravo - compulsive viewing for us addicts 🎉 Comment from : @Gleavster |
@Pete Great video! Thnx What is your opinion on the effect of changing the swing weight of arm-hand-club unit by wearing a watch? Comment from : @T35LA |
Some of these apps get pretty expensive… are there any good app reviews? Comment from : @boredymcboredface8624 |
I'm using a GPS app on my phone but seriously considering switching to a watch purely for convenience sake I play off a high handicap so the pinpoint accuracy of the laser is not necessarily a great help In a competition round recently I played with a 22 handicapper who used a laser however despite shooting an accurate distance he was unable to play to that number so either air mailed the green or finished 10-15 metres short Comment from : @bobwilkinson6828 |
I’ll use whichever one Trump uses, he ALWAYS wins Comment from : @apopisso6302 |
Laser for approach Watch for layout Comment from : @tenparkdrive |
There is no pro using a watch They weight at least 50 gr and it effects the speed of your swing In my case, driver with watch 10 yards less distance I use an app on a small phone Not on my daily phone and i am very happy with the app The phone I use also as a ball marker if not in the way and I while waiting 20 feet away I get a good feeling for the putting distance because you see your phone and the hole easierand I easily can track my score Comment from : @bessergolfmitalex |
I have a rangefinder I think I’m going to a watch Comment from : @ELKORA2324 |
Great video I use a rangefinder and a watch In winter the rangefinder is very useful for temporary greens etc The only downside is it doesn't work well in foggy conditions or rain Keep up the good work Comment from : @MrRocstar50 |
I almost got a watch yesterday and I wish I would have seen this video because I would have pulled the trigger I have an Apple Watch but most apps require you to put in the score before it will change holes Pretty annoying because I keep score on a paper card Comment from : @slimquinn |
What was the phone app you were using Pete? plzbrWhat was the device you had in the top of your clubs? Comment from : @robthomas3968 |
one thing ill note, using a shot scope, i always have to move my glasses (prescription) and its annoying me, trying a watch Comment from : @joshwaaam |

I'm using the gurit app Comment from : @PaulPartridge-jn2su |
Love my ShotScope G5! Previously used the phone GPS, Cart GPS or rangefinder They all work but the watch is so much faster and I didn't catch myself fiddling all round like I do with the phone The only issue I ran into was getting distances for my layup shots on dog legs Still needed the rangefinder or cart gps for that Comment from : @That_Cajun_Guy |
Perfect review and very timely in the market for a ranger finder or watch and was looking for advice Thanks Peter Comment from : @leemeadows5764 |
Which rangefinder do you recommend? Comment from : @Los021 |
I use an older Garmin watch I tried an app, but when I was no longer able to record my score from my Apple Watch I stopped using it I think the golf GPS watch is great I believe the newer Garmin watches also give a view of the hole layout, which mine does not Another benefit is that it is fast Pace of play can be a real issue - 5 hours for a casual round is ridiculous The watch allows for quick yardage information vs having to stop and laser all the time I’ve had playing partners who do this and it can really slow down a round Comment from : @martinchang2474 |
I wish my range finder made that cool "Star Wars" laser noise! Comment from : @jsusna1972 |
I have the Garmin S12 and I love it and I particularly like how it links to my phone and automatically stores all my scorecards but that said it has failed to load the course for me a couple of times on courses it had previously worked on and left me blind for the round and there has been times when I wish I had a rangefinder, but all in all I am really happy with it Comment from : @jesssimpson5959 |
@goreydndgame You should have a look at this Comment from : @ludwighofmeister8780 |
I have a Fenix 5xI despise playing with a watch I played regularly with a watch for several years, so, it's not as if I didn't give it a chance I have the H4 I love that little device I suppliment that with a Bushnell range finder Comment from : @GrumpyGolf4 |
I agree watches are convenient only thing I don't like about watches are disassociation of your, current hole, should you wander from it after an errant shot Comment from : @wooklim9440 |
Another great video Keep them coming Comment from : @phillipmccoy6426 |
When your mates have all of them between them it’s easy! Comment from : @andymicklewright3749 |
I have a Garmin watch and Accros app The watch is very accurate, Arccos is ok brI’ve used a laser, and usually miss the target! One needs a steady hand! Comment from : @BuckshotPA1 |
I use Golf Pad GPS Which also has smartwatch accessibility So you wouldn't have to buy a GPS watch if you already have a smart watch Comment from : @Jumpman5XL |
It's all useful, but none are convenient The phone is good, but you have to carry a phone in the pocket The watch is the most inconvenient, unless you want to ware 2 watches The Smart watch have all the health data that is more important, like the heart rate, SPO2, exercise data the range finder is good, still have to carry it with you other GPS device are exactly the same Useful, but just inconvenient Comment from : @swonghobby |
I currently use an app but my golf partners have watches They seem a little more convenient Comment from : @billtompkins3779 |
I love the laser and apps Comment from : @GabrielGuess |
I use Arccos and my Apple Watch Arccos has the sensors that allow for analytics, and my watch mitigates the need to have my phone in my pocket when swinging Apple Watch Series 6 and above provide excellent battery life for a round You can also use the course map feature on your phone (similar to Shotscope) if preferred Comment from : @patbyron4445 |
I'm still on the Garmin S40 and it works great for me! Comment from : @maccybee2144 |
Thank you for the insight Peter, really appreciate your content I agree with you, the watch would be the best option Easy and accessible 😁 Comment from : @golfingreaper |
The only problem of laser rangefinder is it can't pick up the distance if drizzle rain and foggy day Other than those problems I love it Comment from : @freddywong5234 |
Combo of a GPS watch and laser range finder is best IMO Comment from : @vertstang123 |
Having used the three tech, here’re my 2 pence Also serves as my rankingbrbrGps watch - very convenientbrLaser - most accurate but may take a bit of time using Might not be suited for high handicappers as our shot distances (and direction) are not that accurate to begin withbrPhone - very cumbersome Same funcionality as the gps watch Comment from : @oyomariano |
Garmin golf is great Comment from : @Tiz147 |
Got it, Apple Watch with the app is the best option Thanks Pete! Comment from : @jamesfloyd7020 |
Another good video Peter always enjoy watching 😊 Comment from : @davidnagy510 |
Interesting vid Pete I use a rangefinder because I need reading glasses to see both watches and phones on the course which is a pain Planning to buy the VC4 talking GPS by Voice Caddie to give me front and back distances Comment from : @ralpho58 |
I have the same Hedwig and we're basically best 'mates' now (laughs in Canadian) Ok see you later Best Mate Comment from : @ShawnKawaii |
Great video, as always Range finder looks like a cracking piece of kit 🏌🏻👍🏻 Comment from : @mattsnape6631 |
I use the Golf Canada app to see the course and hole, but I use the range finder while over the ball Comment from : @JoeyPorkChop |
I’ve got golfshot on my phone and it links to my Apple Watch so it’s the best of both the first 2 options I’ve never used a range finder but I’ve always been tempted to Comment from : @bothered1984 |
Enjoying your content immensely keep up the good work Comment from : @steventurnbull4198 |
I use a Garmin watch with a rangefinder Really good combo Comment from : @stevewillis7684 |
I have the Shot Scope H4 GPS/Tracker and Pro LX Rangefinder The GPS is great for quick info and tracking my rounds has given me great insight on what I need to work on Having the rangefinder is great for finding the distance to something that might not show up on a GPS, like a random tree, or the group in front of you The only real advantage, I would say, that a phone app would have is looking at the over course layout I'm looking forward to trying out Shot Scope's MyStrategy Comment from : @DericktheHutt |
Was just looking for this Pete Comment from : @gp2860 |
Pete I use golf padwith the paid version it gives me a caddy serviceas well as many statswould you review thisas a 21 hcper I can't play without this cheers martyn from nz Comment from : @martynrollo800 |
I’d love a rangefinder but too cheap atm to grab one and I see a lot of people misplacing them on the course Comment from : @TheScottjacobson |
I'm 100 on the phone train I put it into "do no disturb" and I'm golden Comment from : @lukejackson2618 |
The video is a little misleading The Shot Scope app requires the user to register a device and therefore can’t be used as a stand alone solution Comment from : @gregshields5673 |
I’ve tried many mobile apps and I’ve found 18 Birdies to be the best Works on Apple Watch also Great app Comment from : @Fenwickboy123 |
I have started using a range finder, but I would be interested in the watch Comment from : @kevintynan7876 |
Keep up the good work enjoy the vids I use a phone app and borrow a range finder Comment from : @kevinadams1214 |
