@Sallyallie89 Basically by doing this you are losing money in a sense, but the whole point of a pawn is so people can get their money without actually selling their item and never seeing it again Most people, I assume anyway, do it so they can maybe pay off a bill or something of that nature

@Buckleofbelt Basically, a pawn works like this Let's assume you really need money to pay off a bill, but at the moment you are financially unable to You want the money to pay off the bill, but you don't want to give anything away necessarily So rather than sell an old item laying around the house, you choose to pawn it By pawning it they'll make an offer to you, you'd accept it, and get the money right away Eventually you'd pay them back though, with 10 interest included, to get item back

@MyBaldMom it's 10 interest on the loan amount, not the 'appraised retail value' there's also nothing binding you to pawn an item, you can sell it to them or you can find a buyer yourself you could also try your luck with a bank or loan shark but they're just as bad fact of the matter is if you need a loan you're not going to get one without paying for the added risk
