PetebrI have a budget of 30,000 baht a month for living costs, medical ins, and holidays are a separate budget , a one bedroom condo is satisfactory with 24 hour security in a large Issan city brDepends on your lifestyle for me I don't drink or visit bars and eat wellbrSpending approx 600 baht a,day on food, coffees and fuel for scooter, it is a tight budget but manageable

Isn't renting a storage for several years too costly compared to the goods you keep there? Whats worth storing for so long? I guess selling every furniture is much cheaper to buy back again compared to paying to storage them for a few years, let alone 10 ?

Definitely appreciate this- it's good to have realistic numbers I'm 48 but pretty much washed out of the US completely after an incredible gambling addiction- terrible job prospects, no savings, but about $1200 a month from a long ago partnership interest Doesn't seem like Thailand is a realistic possibility I have seen people putting up crazy numbers like 700 or 800 a month which I knew couldn't be reasonable

Not sure if I am reading your chart correctly but is seems like you are spending 2K a month which includes, visa runs, health care, food and fun along with the other basics I am spending $2800 living in Oregon but $1400 of that is my double payment on my mortgage 5 more years and Boom I am around $1500 If I could only stop buying guitars 🙂

Cost for our family of 3 living in a pool villa we own in Hua Hin with no mortgage or rent payment is around $4000 each month We don’t skimp on anything We even have our own full time personal driver and nanny I think your budget is one of the more realistic budgets You can’t live any life here on $1000 a month - no way I put $1000 a month into an ETF for our 7 month old daughter That’s in addition to the $4000 a month

If you are retired you spend alot of time in your room/condo i always say rent at the higher end of your budget because if you rent a shitty condo your not gonna want to spend time there so you go out more and in turn spend more whilst you are out Its false economy going cheap on your condo Its great to see you also prioritize this

So -- your extravagant with your rent (?) - understandable if you want it & can afford it A frugal old retired senior like myself doesn't require anything like that Jomtien in a thrifty area is fine for me - but good food nearby ! ---- Siem Reap appears to be a place worthy of my consideration - given the lower costs and quality > Visa laws in Thailand are significantly more of a hassle and much more expensive ! Perhaps I will live in Siem Reap - and visit Thailand ?!? A back and forth venture appears to be a better ''value'' for my $ ? A short 1 hour flight away and cheap if booked in advance ! Cambodia has an '''amazing''' retirement visa for over 55 expats !!! Many single US expats are living a thrifty & comfortable lifestyle on about $800 USD in essentials each month Add for travel and extras ❤👍🙏✌👋
