I once deposited a $2000 business check after selling an old car Days later bank told they had no record of it brI insisted I gave it to a teller who deposited it and showed the receipt They brought in more and more managers and after a full 10 minutes of computer searching and discussions they “found it” brAlways keep your receipts! If I didn’t have my receipt, they would’ve blown me off

I have never needed gap insurance Didn’t even know what it was As I listen to Dave I like my banker more and more She would never loan more than the car’s value (but I always saved a good down payment) Also, she always suggested paying more than the minimum payment on house and car That was part of her “lecture” when we went in for a loan

He needs to start with his original loan closing document, which will show (1) if gap insurance was acquired, (2) whether it was prepaid or not, and (3) if acquired, how much was precharged (financed as part of the loan) $682 seems a lot to be an insurance premium refund on a early payoff of the loan, but there isn't enough information discussed here to make an educated guess The caller starts by saying that he morally owes the money to the CU, so why did he call the program? Like a lot of God driven moralists, he seems to be hoping that Dave will find him an ethical loophole to let him say he doesn't have to repay the CU without tarnishing his sense of "godliness" Pardon me while I chuck lunch

There was a scam on PayPal and $4000 was deposited into my account I was in between jobs and it was right before Xmas I called PayPal and they said “oh yeah you can spend it” I’m glad I was too afraid to do so It was a bit of a bummer seeing that amount go away when it was adjusted in my account, but I knew it wasn’t mine

So the account was closed, the bank reopens it and deposits money into it They go & take they money out, close the account again and spend the money and never asked themselves why that money went into their account in the first place? A refund would have come in the mail with a letter telling what its for, they really should have asked some questions first I am not going to shame him for not having the money to pay it back so quickly because most of us will struggle from time to time but I do think they should have handled it differently in the beginning Now it's time to investigate and pay it back if its legit not theirs

If your lender requires gap insurance, get another lender I’ve never, ever had gap insurance or have even been required to obtain gap insurance Lenders don’t care about gap insurance, as it protects you, not them You are obligated to pay back the loan period
