I was sad that you couldn't differentiate between expensive and the knock off of thos brand You need to do it sober to differentiate between a brandy based and a liquor based Two dond need to be included Comment from : Marcus Beck |
Hey there Gran Marniea Is a randy based And it tastes nothing like a curasoue Your brain is dumb Comment from : Marcus Beck |

Since you`ve tried the Absolut Citron, it might be interesting to try the Absolut Mandrin, which is a tagerine flavored vodka It has no addition of sugar, but it has a subtle hint of sweetness there, perhaps a trick played by our taste memory This will be much closer to those orange liqueurs I like to use these flavored vodkas to give a different flavor note to certain drinks, as for example in a tangerine caipirinha (the main spirit is cachaça) with pepper, by adding maybe 20 ml of Absolut Mandrin and just a dash of Absolut Peppar to give it a subtle spicy note (it`s important to use just a little bit of that last ingredient, as if one uses just a little more, the drink is ruined By the way, it would be great to see you doing a show on cachaça, if you can get some good ones Comment from : Luiz Claudio Cruz Marques |

Why is there a blue curacao alcohol and a blue curacao syrup? Comment from : Skaarf Vagly |
"ahranges"brThat is all Comment from : Ali Gallaton |
I find it interesting to note that grand marnier is with a cognac base as opposed to the brandy base you mentioned for curaçao which might explain why it tastes so different from the other ones you drank on that episode Comment from : Ash Mackenzie |
Hey, big fan of your videos! :) Just wanted to say I LOVE this addition to the channel I find comparison tastings to b very helpful, since I can't afford to buy all the things just to taste them Thanks! Comment from : Jenifera L |

Sooo all of them arę triple secs? Im getting more confused Can i swap Pierre Ferrand for Cointreau in a drink and vice versa or nah? Comment from : aldente |
Whoa, wait a minute, hold up: if Curaçao is more sweet and Triple Sec is less sweet - you just said at 4:22 that Cointreau is the Triple Sec style bless/b sweet variety? The first time I had Cointreau I said, out loud, "this is liquid candy" That's the less sweet? Seriously? If Cointreau the triple sec less sweet variety and Grand Marnier is the Curaçao more sweet - than apparently you're biggest concern with drinking a whole bottle of Grand Marnier isn't alcohol poisoning - it's whether or not your foot is gonna fall off from spontaneous diabetes Comment from : Deleted User |
Music name for this episode? Comment from : vibe check |
It's my understanding that Cointreau (and I guess you can extrapolate that out to triple secs in general) is made from neutral spirits and Grand Marnier is Brandy based Which, I guess, would explain why the Grand Marnier was more complex in flavor However, I still prefer Cointreau in my margaritas Comment from : nicholai4242 |
Do you know of any good cocktails that include Bourbon and Gran Mariner? Comment from : dreamingwolf8382 |

Enjoyed this video! Is there any meaningful difference between curacao and blue curacao in terms of flavor? Can they be used interchangably? Comment from : Sarah Thomas |
While Curacao is made by infusing the dry orange peels in with local brandy, where is Grand Marnier, is distilled orange liquor, like Cointreau, blended with Cognac Which also explains the price because cognac is not cheap Comment from : Oskar Elysee |
Definitely would love to see more of this series! Love the history and the comparisons! There are subtle differences that they just don't teach you in bartending classes 🤷🏻♀️ Comment from : Yumi the Book Demon |
it's Li-cure (Liquor) Comment from : Starless |
Cointreau is super expensive in NC (like $40 a bottle), and we don't have minibottle options :(brbrGotta love government control of liquor Comment from : UnorthodoxRomance |
I'm all about this Spiritguide idea The history makes it that much more fun Comment from : Xander Roseberry |
Please please being us more of these!! Comment from : Adrian Narvaez |
There's a limit to the usage of high quality spirits when mixing cocktails Am I gonna use a $250 bottle of 18 year whiskey to make a sour? Like hell I would, and neither would youbrA $100 tequila and Grand Marnier to make a frozen margarita? Nope Why would you? Coldness not only eliminates the acetone & rubbing alcohol flavours of cheap shit, but also the deliciousness and complex flavours of high quality spirits So why fork out the extra bucks for high quality only to chill and dilute it to the point you can't even taste it? Go mid-grade for a higher-end cocktail, and savour the good stuff how it's meant to be- by itself in a glass Comment from : balzonurchin |
The last show I watched involving a spirit guide was about tripping on peyote Comment from : balzonurchin |

Grand Marnier has cognac in it in addition to orange liqueur, so it's bound to be more complex Comment from : Morangie |
In french(especially winemaking) "sec" doesn't really mean "dry" but rather "non sweet"So the "triple sec" could refer to the fact that it is less sweet than curacao Comment from : Lars von threat |
Many moons ago some friends and I would shoot Grand Ma and order a second to dip cigars into, while sipping scotch and bourbon! Comment from : Joe P |
I use Grand Marnier in making fruit compotes It is excellent with blackberry and raspberry Comment from : Matthew Murray |
Nice video, grand marnier rouge and pierre ferrand are more similar than cointreau is because the base of them is brandy while the base of cointreau is neutral alcohol I think thats why cointreau does not taste that complex Comment from : ti sch |
I totally was confused about these before this Thanks! Enjoying learning from you and your humble attitude 👍🏻 Comment from : Sonja Norberg-Sanchez |
Thank you so much man I’ve made it my goal to have my own home bar but I don’t want to just pour drinks in a glass cause the recipe says so I really want to know what I’m mixing and why Really appreciate your channel man Keep up the good work! Comment from : JustAnotherBasic |

Liquor and LiqueurbrLiquors are not sweetened, but Liqueurs are Comment from : Beep Bop |
Hey! I really like most of your videos and drinks Love them!brBut I do not agree with you tasting methods today You have to take in account that water in your glass (since you rinse your glass but dont dry it) drasticly changes the flavour and sweetness of your drink Comment from : Michael Pregger |
I've tried them em all, from the most expensive to the bottom shelve stuff and dekuyper 03 is the oj liqueur that I keep going back to - and it's only 1/4th the price of the high end stuff Itbrs got the most intense and complex orange flavor I've experience from alcohol Comment from : Einhander49 |
More please Comment from : Sockenstuff |
