I want to go to heaven when I die but in an American you can’t be rich without screwing peoples life most of the time😅 Comment from : Music Nature |

I like the PPO because of the security of it Comment from : Jim Roscovius |
This is why we need universal healthcare Comment from : Mason D |

Dave had an opportunity to clarify the difference between an HDHP (High deductible Health Plan) with HSA (Health Savings Account) and a PPO or HMO which has lower deductibles but higher premiums, but didn’t :) Comment from : PH |
I hate the fact when I have health insurance I still have to pay The fact you have to pay monthly and still pay your doctor bill The concept should be pay for insurance and get free healthcare service ( which is still not free because you’re paying for insurance) this system is so stupid Comment from : Glaceau Smart |
The guy that preaches to not following math to get out of debt, just said health insurance is a "math problem, doesnt care about feelings" brbrThe piece of mind of being covered, even with a bit of a higher premiums, is worth some value brbrUsing Dave's logic on medical, he wouldn't follow baby stepsbrbrThe HSA has everything to do with it Zero in HSA, means dropping a very high amount for a dr visit without having those funds to offset the cost Comment from : raftingdon2 |
This is why we just need a single payer Comment from : Deven Murray |
I typically look at the deductible amount I believe hsa are offered because the health plan offers a high deductible I'd rather pay more monthly to have a low deductible than pay a low premium and have a high deductible Its a peace of mind and yes its a math thing but each family is different Comment from : Jourdyn Q |
Health Insurance has to be looked at individuallycan't just say HSA or PPO is better I work in this field and you can't just make a blanket statement like that Comment from : Nicole B |
These plans sound all like a scam Comment from : Redfield517 |
I ran the numbers on a 10k bill and a 20k billand as far as I can see my ppo would end up costing more than the hsa at bcbs when all is said and done Comment from : cmpdas |
With all the wheezing from doing a phone call? U need the best insurance you can get Comment from : Outside The Box |
Just get a medically underwritten plan!! Comment from : NoresRestoration |
Dave, you didn't listen well enough to understand the question Comment from : Deloris Young |
I verify insurance for a living Literally thousands of plans across the US Never heard of a max out of pocket of 500k The most I’ve seen is 12k (which is also ridiculous) Also - we always (if we can) go PPO We have always always had a PPO I have 2 kids under 4 and we go the doctor a lot I can’t give them all my money to meet the deductible on the HMO/ HSA A plan with an HMO/HSA can be very limiting on who you can see With a PPO I can see anybody and I don’t have to get insurance approval Also HSA is not an insurance - it’s just an account you put money in to pay medical expenses (which they also have for the PPO , they just call it the FSA) When I was pregnant i wanted the best coverage with the lowest out of pocket and that’s what the wife wants I had a HSA/ HMO when I was first pregnant and every time we went to the doctor “that’ll be $694,$312,$456” depending on what I was getting done On my PPO I paid a flat $50 copay every time The HMO/HSA almost broke us at the beginning Comment from : IW |
Dave has the right idea, but he's incredibly confused about how health insurance works There is no copay above max oop He also confused max oop w annual coverage limits AND somehow doesnt know that ACA compliant plans like all HSA's will cover all costs above max oop The coinsurance happens between the deductible and the max oop This guy needs to find a good broker, not call dave Comment from : Mike Moore |
ALL insurance should be 100 percent optional so whoever wants to participate in that rat race can go right ahead Comment from : JoeAceJR |
How much you pay every month for insurance??? Not how much you putting in HSA 😅!!! Comment from : Kelvin Feliciano |
This total confusion about how Health Insurance works is what left a lot of people lost and have no idea of what is most beneficial for themselves and their families This scenario has helped a lot of scammers to thrive in the health industry by selling people health insurance policies that do not cover them and cause them to have a financial burden on top of their health condition brBeing a licensed health advisor helped me learn how the system works and how it evolves with changing laws and regulations Make sure you find someone who know what they are doing and who you can trust Do not buy any policy before you verify who you are talking to and what are the guarantees put in place to cover you instead they turn to be dishonestbrHave them show their license to sell insurance in your state Are they Health insurance agents or are they sales people or just marketers ? brHope this helps Comment from : US Healthcare Options |
HSA is designed to eliminate early benefits but provide a tax shelter whether you have medical bills or not With a premium savings of $2088 per year and a max out of pocket difference of about the same ($2k) this becomes a bit of a no brainer Take the HSA you aren't saving "a bazillion" dollars (more like $1200 in tax liability) but there is very few circumstances that would justify the guaranteed cost of the PPO premium and the risk of a possible max out of pocket medical event vs the possible HSA higher max out of pocket and the guaranteed tax savings Comment from : Daniel Wilson |
Did you really just say the max out-of-pocket could be up to $500,000? This is the reason you should let insurance agents discuss this ACA limits the max out of pocket And there's no way to calculate a person's better scenario without seeing the premiums HSA are not always less expensive Comment from : Kairos Insurance Group |
Where did dave grt 1 million from on ppo? Smh my max is 1500 and i oay 150 a month Comment from : Dominick Johnson |
I'm shopping right now Going to blow all my savings of I buy one this year but we have needed it lately All plans I have seen have big deductibles Comment from : MultiAnne36 |
this dude makes no sense what are the chances of hitting the max out of pocket when the PPO is paying 80 of your medical bills throughout the year? I mean unless you're in and out of the hospital multiple times a year Comment from : Corinne McWilliams |
Dave : “Dying is cheaper than ppo and hsa “ sell the car Comment from : Lexman214 |
Hmo all the way I've been a biller 10 yrs and opt for this option Unless ur in need of constant care, id suggest the hmo Ppo's are good for those with chronic deseases that requires u in a the dr or have surgeries often Comment from : Incog Nito |
some people need to get it through they're thick skulls , government healthcare is the way to go like we have here in CANADA Comment from : rayn1ful |
did i mention in canada when i go to the doctors whether its once a year or thousand times a year i dont have to worry Comment from : rayn1ful |
this is why americans need to adopt canadian practices on health care !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Comment from : rayn1ful |
I think this dude thinks he is going to just have the hsa and not have the actual insurance Comment from : Joshua Powell |

Waiting for that 3rd option M4A to become available Comment from : Steven Salazar |
Insurance just needs to be separated from work and let people choose insurance from the market place It would also allow companies to raise income for people instead of offering insurance Comment from : Joseph Thomas |
This guy simply doesn't understand health care or the terminology He's confusing premiums with saving in an HSA (which has nothing to do with your premiums) Not to mention he's confused about his deductible/out-of-pocket, etc Dave realizes it's a lost cause towards the end This guy needs to spend some more time learning about the insurance Comment from : Pete S |
Do you mean HMO? Because HSA is in addition to health insurance not an insurance plan And, it depends on the plans We have a PPO because it is actually cheaper due to what it covers and lower deductible HMO had a lower monthly contribution but you were nickel and dimed on every service But, you need to look at your actual plans to figure out which is a better because it varies a lot Comment from : anastasiabeaverhaus9 |
Please stop coaching people on health insurance You completely messed that up Comment from : Angry Arkie |
Change that intro melody please Comment from : Pijo Master |
He should get the maximum health insurance he can because he sounds like he just ran a marathon and all he is doing is talking on a phone Comment from : neolithic3 |
You have a new born Get the best protection money buys That’s PPO Wife wins Comment from : Newtttton |
An HSA isn't an insurance plan You're referring to an HDHP (High Deductible Health Plan) which can be an EPO, PPO, or HMO HSA (Health Savings Account) is just a feature in some qualifying plans That PPO his wife is talking about might just have one This call made me laugh as an insurance agent Insurance is freakin confusing, isn't it? :-D Comment from : Jeffrey Berry |
I have to disagree that the decision is only based on math He admitted that how often they have health issues decides which plan is cheaper Unless Dave has a crystal ball, the decision has to be made on their feelings of what might occur Comment from : Tony C |
The way I understand it, this is employer subsidized insurance Wife wins She doesn’t trust his math Comment from : Ed Z |
Sounds like the guy just heard HSA's are better and told his wife they need to go that route but he didn't actually run the numbers He needs to just run both sets of numbers like Dave said and make a decision based on that I don't think that's what he did Comment from : Andy Dufresne |
I had a lot to learn Comment from : I Use Arch, BTW |

It's best to separate your emotions from your financial decisions 🤷♂️ Comment from : Chris Invests |
Unless you are sick all the time the HSA is usually better than the PPO HSA typically has lower up front costs like premiums and ongoing costs like max out of pocket The PPO typically has higher premiums and higher max out of pocket but it's cheaper when you get health care for things like doctors appointments The PPO is the way to go if you are really worried about your health and tend to spend a lot The HSA is better if you don't see the doctor often Also HSA has a tremendous tax advantage with the savings account Comment from : Richard Forester |
How do we fix the student loan debt crises? Comment from : Mat Mat |
It's not a math thing its a predicting the future thing Comment from : robo9876 |
God, I love living in Seoul South Korea’s single payer beats up America as far as health care and infrastructure goes, and that’s even with the super old population! Just no obese and no dopers Comment from : rick m60 |
I'm confused I thought a health savings account was what most people have as an accessory to a health ins plan Why not have them both? Have the cheapest health ins you can get and put a little in your hsa every pay period Comment from : Barefootminis |
Move to Canada! Comment from : F Maz |
My mind hurts lol I know I have HSA but I don’t go the hospital a lot So yeah that’s as much as I know lol Comment from : LilMermaid |
Bottom line: make decisions based on logic (math) not emotions! Comment from : Will Mallory |
